BRIC-NABI Research Posts Recruitment 2026: Overview

BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI) is recruiting research staff for its Food and Nutritional Biotechnology division in Mohali. The notice brings together field, crop-science and biosensor projects under one temporary recruitment drive. Your work could support scented-rice improvement, wheat iron biology, coloured-cereal breeding or sensor development for microgravity research.

BRIC-NABI is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Its wider research programme connects agricultural biotechnology with nutrition, biofortification and value-added food products. Each role belongs to a named project and principal investigator, so you should match your degree, test qualification and research background to the project rather than treating the notice as a general fellowship call.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Field Assistant, scented-rice project: Field and laboratory support for improving Assam and Manipur scented rice under stress, with nutrition and yield as major project themes.
  • Junior Research Fellow, wheat iron-homeostasis project: Life-science research focused on tissue-specific transcriptional responses in wheat.
  • Senior Research Fellow, coloured-cereal project: Genetics and breeding work on coloured wheat under the ICAR-CRP Biofortification programme.
  • Junior Research Fellow, microgravity-sensor project: Aptamer selection and biosensor development for detecting stress markers in a microgravity setting.

Post-wise Duties

Field Assistant

You will support extensive field and laboratory activity, including data scoring and extraction. Your day-to-day work will help the research team keep crop observations and laboratory outputs organised.

Junior Research Fellow: Wheat Iron Homeostasis

You will contribute to a wheat molecular-biology project under the named principal investigator. The notice does not prescribe a detailed task list, so your discussion should focus on relevant life-science methods and your national-test qualification.

Senior Research Fellow

You will design experiments, analyse data and support genetics and breeding work on coloured wheat. The role also includes managing routine project activity, preparing progress reports and contributing to manuscripts.

Junior Research Fellow: Microgravity Sensor

You will work on aptamer selection and biosensor development. Experience with confocal or fluorescence microscopy can help you show readiness for the project's experimental work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Temporary engagement: Every position is project-based and does not create a claim to a permanent BRIC-NABI post.
  • Project tenure: The field role runs up to the stated project end or fund availability; the fellowships are initially fixed-term, co-terminus with a project or extendable subject to progress and funds.
  • Interview mode: Three roles are walk-in only. The wheat iron-homeostasis JRF also permits an online interview request with proper justification.
  • Document validity: Expired certificates will not be accepted, and walk-in participants must bring originals for verification.
  • Travel: BRIC-NABI will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview.

Application Submission Notes

Use the prescribed BRIC-NABI application form attached to the advertisement or available on the institute's careers page. Walk-in participants must register at BRIC-NABI, Knowledge City, Sector 81, Mohali, Punjab 140306 during the stated morning window and hand over the completed form there.

If you seek the permitted online mode for the wheat-project JRF, send a single combined PDF to the concerned principal investigator with a clear justification before the separate online deadline. Name that file in the format Candidate Name - Position - Date of interview. One form can list preferences for more than one advertised role.

Corrigenda and Notices

  • Schedule corrigendum: BRIC-NABI extended the online-application window and moved the interview to a later date; all other conditions remain unchanged.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field and laboratory work for the assigned agri-food research project
  • Record observations, score experimental data, and organise sample information
  • Design and carry out experiments under the principal investigator's guidance
  • Analyse research data and maintain clear project records
  • Support genetics, crop-improvement, biosensor, or molecular-biology workflows as assigned
  • Prepare progress reports and contribute to research manuscripts
  • Manage routine project activities and coordinate with the laboratory team
