Visakhapatnam District PwBD Backlog Recruitment 2026 — 8 Posts
The Government of Andhra Pradesh, through the Department for Welfare of Differently Abled, TG and Senior Citizens, has launched this special recruitment drive under Notification No. A1/254/2025-26 dated 28-03-2026. This drive is specifically for filling up backlog vacancies that were earmarked for differently abled persons since 2002. Only local candidates of Erstwhile Visakhapatnam District with a minimum 40% benchmark disability are eligible to apply. The selection is entirely merit-based with no written exam or interview for Group IV posts.

Who Can Apply?
This recruitment is exclusively for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) who are local candidates of Erstwhile Visakhapatnam District (before the restructuring of districts on or before 04.02.2022). Non-local candidates are strictly not eligible.
Junior Assistant (Post Code 001)
- Any degree from a recognized university (UGC or equivalent)
- Must qualify the "Proficiency in Office Automation with usage of Computer and Associated Software" test conducted by APPSC/DSC as per G.O.Ms. No. 133, dt. 12.05.2014
Typist (Post Code 002)
- Any degree from a recognized university (UGC or equivalent)
- Must pass the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) with required typing speed as per GOMs No. 26, dt. 12.03.2024 of General Administration (Ser.B) Department
LD Computer (Post Code 003)
- Any degree from a recognized university (UGC or equivalent)
- Must qualify the "Proficiency in Office Automation with usage of Computer and Associated Software" test conducted by APPSC/DSC as per G.O.Ms. No. 133, dt. 12.05.2014
Lab Technician Grade II (Post Code 004)
- DMLT or B.Sc (MLT)
- If Intermediate (VOC) — must have one year apprenticeship in Government Hospitals
- Must be registered in APPMB (AP Paramedical Board)
Other requirements for all posts:
- Must have a valid Employment Registration as per G.O.M.S. No. 52
- Must be a citizen of India
- Must have minimum 40% disability as certified by a medical authority
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Maximum age: 52 years (includes 10 years age relaxation for PwBD as per Rule 12(v) of A.P. S.S.S.R., 1996)

Salary
- Junior Assistant, Typist, LD Computer (Post Codes 001-003): Rs. 25,220 — 80,910 per month (AP RPS 2022)
- Lab Technician Grade II (Post Code 004): Rs. 32,670 — 1,01,970 per month (AP RPS 2022)

Selection Process
Group IV Posts (Junior Assistant, Typist, LD Computer)
- Merit-based selection — No written exam and no interview. Selection is based purely on the marks you scored in your qualifying examination as per G.O.Ms. No. 74, GAD (Ser-A) Dept. dated 14.02.2007
- Document verification — Your certificates will be verified by the concerned Board/Council/Department
- Medical verification — Your SADAREM disability certificate will be verified by the State Appellate Medical Board
Lab Technician Grade II (Other Than Group IV)
- Merit of qualifying technical examination marks
- Document verification
- Medical verification
Tie-breaking rules: If marks are equal, preference goes to the candidate with a higher degree of disability. If still tied, the older candidate gets preference. If age is also same, the candidate who got their educational qualification earlier is preferred.

- Handle clerical work including file management, correspondence, and record-keeping in district government offices
- Prepare official documents, letters, and reports using computer systems and office software
- Manage data entry, computer operations, and digital record maintenance
- Assist in maintaining registers, databases, and office administration work
- Perform typing work in Telugu and English as required for official correspondence
- Conduct laboratory tests and prepare reports for medical diagnosis (Lab Technician)
- Follow government rules and procedures while processing official files and applications

Exam Pattern
There is no written exam or interview for Group IV posts (Junior Assistant, Typist, LD Computer). Selection is based purely on the merit of marks you scored in your qualifying examination.
For Lab Technician Grade II (Other Than Group IV), selection is based on merit of marks in the qualifying technical examination.
- Merit basis: Percentage of marks in the prescribed educational qualification
- Tie-breaking: Higher degree of disability gets preference. If still tied, older candidate is preferred. If age is also same, earlier educational qualification date is considered
- Medical verification: SADAREM disability certificates will be verified by the State Appellate Medical Board
