Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC), Shillong has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 dated 8th April 2026 for filling 3 posts across two state government departments. The recruitment covers Tourist Officer posts in the Tourism Department (with possible posting at TIC Kolkata/Delhi/Guwahati) and a Draftsman Grade-I post in the Directorate of Housing. Both posts carry Level 11 pay under the Revised Pay Structure. Selection involves a Screening Test followed by a Personal Interview.

Who Can Apply?
For Tourist Officer (Tourism Department)
- Essential Qualification: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized Institution/University.
- Preferred: Candidates with a Diploma in Tourism or Tourism-related subjects, and those with a minimum of 2 years of experience in tourism or hospitality in a recognized establishment, will be given preference.
- Posting: Anywhere in the state of Meghalaya, or at TIC offices in Kolkata, Delhi, or Guwahati under the Tourism Department. The selected candidate must arrange their own accommodation at the posting station.
For Draftsman Grade-I (Directorate of Housing)
- Option A: Diploma in Architectural/Civil Draftsmanship from a recognized institution.
- Option B: 2-year Certificate in Civil Draftsmanship from an ITI (or any recognized institution) with at least 3 years of experience in the field.
Age Limit
- Tourist Officer: You must be between 21 and 32 years old as on 01 January 2026.
- Draftsman Grade-I: You must be between 18 and 32 years old as on 01 January 2026.
- SC/ST Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
- Regular Government Employees: No upper age bar for those who entered government service within the prescribed age limit.
- PWD Relaxation: As per Meghalaya Government notification No. PER(AR).150/88/560 dated 18th January 2023.
Salary
- Both posts are placed at Level 11 of the Revised Pay Structure.
- Starting basic pay: Rs. 67,700 per month.
- You will also receive DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances as per Meghalaya Government rules.

- SC/ST (permanent residents of Meghalaya): Rs. 175 (half rate)

Selection Process
Selection for both posts is done in 2 stages:
- Screening Test (MCQ-based Written Exam — 300 marks): All candidates who apply will be called for the screening test. Passing this test is mandatory to qualify for the interview.
- For Tourist Officer: General English (60 marks), General Studies incl. Current Affairs (80 marks), Aptitude & Reasoning (60 marks), Tourism Management & Hospitality (60 marks), Basic Computer Knowledge (40 marks).
- For Draftsman Grade-I: General English (50 marks), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (50 marks), Aptitude & Reasoning (50 marks), Technical Subject — Civil & Architectural/Diploma Level (150 marks).
- Personal Interview: Only candidates who pass the Screening Test are called for the interview. The ratio of candidates called from Screening Test to Interview is as per the Commission's decision dated 13th April 2023. You must bring all original documents to the interview.
Exam Centres: Shillong, Tura, Jowai, Williamnagar, and Nongstoin. Change of exam centre will not be allowed, so choose carefully.

Responsibilities
- Promote tourism in Meghalaya by coordinating with travel agents, tour operators, and hospitality establishments
- Manage Tourist Information Centres (TIC) and assist visitors with travel-related queries
- Prepare reports, publicity materials, and itineraries for tourism promotion activities
- Assist in organizing tourism events, fairs, and cultural programmes
- Maintain records of tourist inflow, infrastructure, and departmental activities
- Coordinate with state and central agencies for tourism development schemes
- Handle drafting, designing, and preparing architectural/civil drawings (for Draftsman post)
- Assist engineers in the preparation of building plans, layouts, and structural drawings (for Draftsman post)

Minimum Qualification
Graduate in any discipline (Tourist Officer) / Diploma in Architectural/Civil Draftsmanship (Draftsman Grade-I)
Preferred Qualification
Diploma in Tourism or Tourism-related subjects with minimum 2 years experience (Tourist Officer)
