Who Can Apply?
For Assistant Soil Chemist (Level-10):
- Master's Degree in Agriculture or Agricultural Chemistry with specialization in Soil Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or Soil Science, plus 3 years' experience in soil and water analysis in a government or recognized research organization.
For Prosecutor, SFIO (Level-8):
- Graduate degree plus a Bachelor's degree in Law with 1 year of litigation/court experience, OR a 5-year integrated Law degree with 2 years of litigation experience in a Government organization.
For Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor - all specialties (Level-11 + NPA):
- A recognized MBBS degree plus a postgraduate degree (DM/MD/DNB or equivalent Diploma) in the concerned specialty (Clinical Hematology, Endocrinology, Neonatology, Nuclear Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Paediatric Cardiology, or Surgical Gastroenterology), plus at least 3 years of teaching experience as Senior Resident, Tutor, Registrar or Assistant Professor after your first PG degree.
For Deputy Assistant Director & Entomologist, NCVBDC (Level-10):
- Master's Degree in Zoology with Entomology, or Master's in Public Health Entomology, plus 3 years' experience in medical/public health entomology or vector-borne disease control.
For Junior Scientific Officer (Toxicology), CFSL (Level-7):
- Master's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacy or Forensic Science, with Chemistry as a subject at B.Sc. level, plus 3 years' experience in toxicology research or analysis.
For Superintendent (Legal), Legislative Department (Level-8):
- LLB Degree plus 2 years' experience as a State Judicial Service officer, a Legal Department official, a Central Government employee handling legal affairs, or a practicing Advocate.
Age Limit
- Assistant Soil Chemist / Deputy Assistant Director / Entomologist: up to 35 years (UR).
- Junior Scientific Officer (Toxicology) / Superintendent (Legal): up to 30 years (UR).
- Prosecutor (SFIO): up to 33 years (OBC).
- Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor posts: generally 40 years for UR/EWS, 43 years for OBC, and 45 years for SC/ST (varies slightly by specialty).
- Age Relaxation: up to 5 years for SC/ST, up to 3 years for OBC, and up to 10 years for PwBD candidates on vacancies reserved for them. Age is calculated as on the closing date, 31 July 2026.
Salary
- Junior Scientific Officer (Toxicology): Level-7 (approx. Rs. 44,900 - Rs. 1,42,400 per month).
- Prosecutor (SFIO) / Superintendent (Legal): Level-8 (approx. Rs. 47,600 - Rs. 1,51,100 per month).
- Assistant Soil Chemist / Deputy Assistant Director / Entomologist: Level-10 (Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500 per month).
- Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (all specialties): Level-11 (approx. Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700 per month) plus Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA).
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

- Women (all categories) / SC / ST / PwBD: No fee

Selection Process
UPSC will select candidates through the following stages:
- Application Screening: UPSC checks that you meet the essential qualification and experience for your chosen post.
- Shortlisting: If there are too many applications, UPSC may shortlist using desirable qualifications, higher educational qualifications, or additional relevant experience.
- Recruitment Test (RT), if applicable: For some posts, UPSC may hold a written Recruitment Test before the interview.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for a Personality Test/Interview worth 100 marks. You need at least 50 marks (UR), 45 marks (OBC), or 40 marks (SC/ST/PwBD) to qualify.
