Tripura Forest Department is hiring 271 Forester and Forest Guard (Group-C) posts under the Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. The Tripura Forest Department, Government of Tripura, has released two separate advertisements for direct recruitment of Uniformed Forest Field Staff. There are 104 Forester posts (Level-7) and 167 Forest Guard posts (Level-6), both Group-C, Non-Gazetted and temporary in nature. 33% of the posts are reserved for women candidates. Selection is through a common written examination (85%) and interview (15%), with a single physical examination and physical test if you apply for both posts.

Who Can Apply?
For Forester (Level-7 — Rs. 5,700-24,000 + GP Rs. 2,200)
- Qualification: Higher Secondary (+2) Stage passed or equivalent
- Desirable: Knowledge of Bengali or Kok-borok
For Forest Guard (Level-6 — Rs. 5,700-24,000 + GP Rs. 2,100)
- Qualification: Madhyamik (10th Class) passed or equivalent
- Desirable: Knowledge of Bengali or Kok-borok
Mandatory for Both Posts
- You must hold a Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura (PRTC) as per GA (P&T) Department Notification dated 07.07.2023.
- You must possess good physique and sound health and be fit for arduous forestry field work.
- Persons with disabilities are not eligible as these are forestry field posts.
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 40 years as on 01 May 2026.
- Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and for Government employees.
- Women candidates must bring a self-declaration certifying that they are not pregnant on the date of the physical test.
Salary
- Forester (Level-7): Pay scale Rs. 5,700-24,000 with Grade Pay of Rs. 2,200 per month
- Forest Guard (Level-6): Pay scale Rs. 5,700-24,000 with Grade Pay of Rs. 2,100 per month
- Pay as per Tripura State Pay Matrix 2018, plus DA and other allowances as per Government of Tripura rules

Physical Standards
For Male Candidates
- Height — General & SC: 163 cm
- Height — ST: 152 cm
- Chest: 79 cm normal, 84 cm expanded (5 cm expansion)
For Female Candidates
- Height — UR & SC: 150 cm
- Height — ST: 145 cm
- Chest: 74 cm normal, 79 cm expanded (5 cm expansion)
Physical Test (Qualifying)
- Male candidates: Walk 25 km within 4 hours
- Female candidates: Walk 16 km within 4 hours
- Only candidates who clear the physical test will proceed to further stages
Selection Process
Selection will be done in the following stages:
- Written Examination (85% weight): Cut-off marks may be different for different categories. Syllabus is given in Annexure-B of the notification.
- Physical Standard Test & Physical Endurance Test (Qualifying): 25 km walk in 4 hours for men, 16 km walk in 4 hours for women.
- Interview (15% weight): Only candidates who qualify in the written test and physical test will be called.
- Medical Examination: Conducted by Health Department, Government of Tripura to certify fitness for strenuous outdoor/field work.
Candidates applying for both Forester and Forest Guard posts will appear for the physical examination only once.

Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned forest beats and ranges to protect forest produce, wildlife and biodiversity
- Prevent and detect forest offences such as illicit felling, encroachment, poaching and forest fires
- Assist in afforestation, plantation and forest regeneration activities
- Maintain registers of forest produce, seizures, plantation records and beat diaries
- Lead and supervise junior field staff (in case of Forester) during routine and emergency duties
- Co-ordinate with local communities, Joint Forest Management Committees and Panchayats
- Assist Range Officers in survey, demarcation and boundary maintenance of forest areas
- Work in remote and difficult terrain, often staying at field stations away from family

Required Skills

Exam Pattern
Direct recruitment will be done through a combined written examination and interview, with the following weights:
- Written Examination: 85% of total marks
- Interview: 15% of total marks
Cut-off Marks: May be different for different categories — only candidates who obtain category-wise cut-off marks in the written test will be called for interview and further recruitment stages.
Syllabus: Detailed syllabus is given in Annexure-B of the official notification on the recruitment portal.
Note: The physical test (25 km walk in 4 hours for men, 16 km walk in 4 hours for women) is qualifying in nature and does not carry marks for the final merit list.
