Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Section Officer Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is a statutory body set up under the TRAI Act, 1997 to regulate telecommunications services and to protect the interests of both service providers and consumers in the telecom sector. Since 2004, TRAI's mandate has also covered regulation of broadcasting and cable services, and the organization works to promote and ensure the orderly growth of the sector. TRAI has invited applications to fill 2 posts of Section Officer at its headquarters in New Delhi. This is a deputation on foreign service terms post, open to serving officers from Central/State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory or Autonomous Bodies, or recognized Universities/Research Institutes. The deputation will be governed by DoP&Trg OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time. This is not a fresh/direct recruitment — only eligible in-service officers routed through their parent department can apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligibility: You must be an officer of the Central Government, State Government, Union Territory Administration, Public Sector Undertaking, Statutory or Autonomous Body, or a recognized University/Research Institute.
• Route 1: Holding an analogous post (Section Officer or equivalent) on a regular basis in your parent cadre/department.
• Route 2: 6 years of regular service after appointment as Assistant in Level-6 (Rs. 35,400-1,12,400) or equivalent, AND a Bachelor's degree from a UGC/AICTE recognized university/institute with computer proficiency.
• This post is only open to serving government employees on deputation — it is not a direct/open recruitment for the general public.

Age Limit

• The maximum age for appointment on deputation is 56 years as on the last date of submission of applications.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month under Pay Level-7 in the Pay Matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Government of India rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

This is a deputation post filled through a screening process, not a written exam:

1. Application Screening: TRAI reviews the applications forwarded by your parent department, along with your ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years, vigilance/disciplinary clearance and cadre clearance.
2. Selection on Deputation Basis: Eligible candidates are selected on deputation on foreign service terms for an initial period of 3 years.

2. Download and take a printout of your filled online application form.
3. Get your application duly attested and forwarded by your parent department, along with ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years, vigilance/disciplinary clearance, and cadre clearance.
4. Place your attested application in an envelope superscribed with the post applied for — Section Officer.
5. Send the envelope by post to the Senior Research Officer (HR), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, World Trade Centre, 6th Floor, Tower-F, Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi-110029, on or before 22 September 2026.
