TNJFU Young Professional-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) is engaging Young Professional-I staff through its Directorate of Sustainable Aquaculture. The work supports the Government of India-funded All India Network Project on Ornamental Fish Breeding and Culture at MCeSA, Seeniappa Dargha, Mandapam. This is a hands-on aquaculture assignment where your academic background must translate into practical hatchery and farm work.

The position is designed for fisheries, aquaculture and life-science candidates with different experience routes. The role follows breeding and rearing cycles, so you should be comfortable working close to fish-production facilities and adjusting your routine to the biological schedule. The notice specifically says the job involves staying at the hatchery and farm during these cycles.

You will work with the project team on day-to-day culture operations, observation, record keeping and field support. Practical familiarity with finfish or shellfish breeding is especially relevant for the bachelor's-degree route, while postgraduate routes recognize focused study in aquaculture, fisheries biology, environmental management or life science.

Network projects depend on comparable records from participating centres. Your work at Mandapam should therefore combine careful observation with consistent documentation, so that breeding and rearing information can be reviewed by the wider project team. You may need to coordinate routine farm activity with reporting needs, flag unusual observations promptly and keep supporting records organized. Accuracy matters as much as hands-on familiarity with the culture system.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project appointment: The engagement is purely temporary and co-terminus with the scheme, with an initial one-year period stated in the notice.
  • No transfer to another post: Continuation or switching to another vacant university post is not permitted through this engagement.
  • University rules: The selected professional will follow the regulations in force for TNJFU's contractual manpower.
  • Place of work: MCeSA at Seeniappa Dargha, Mandapam is the notified station, but the university may change the place of posting according to project need.
  • Work pattern: Hatchery and farm presence may be needed during breeding and rearing cycles, including periods when the project schedule is intensive.
  • Interview communication: Shortlisted candidates will receive a call letter for an online interview; the notice does not promise an interview to every applicant.
