TNJFU JRF Aquaculture Project Recruitment 2026: Overview
Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) is engaging a Junior Research Fellow at its Directorate of Incubation and Vocational Training in Aquaculture in Muttukadu, Chennai. The fellow will support a focused project evaluating the growth and feed efficiency of Penaeus vannamei and Penaeus monodon under different dietary regimes. This is a hands-on aquaculture nutrition assignment, suited to someone who enjoys linking controlled feeding work with careful biological measurements and scientific writing. The project combines wet-lab or culture-system activity with data analysis, documentation and research communication. Because diet trials depend on consistency, the work also calls for careful observation across repeated measurements and disciplined recording of anything that could affect the comparison. Your notes should make it possible for the research team to trace each result back to the relevant treatment and sampling point.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: The fellowship is purely temporary and lasts only for the project's stated six-month period.
- No continuing appointment: The notice does not promise extension, absorption or a regular university position after the project ends.
- Work location: The assignment is based at DIVA, Muttukadu, Chennai, where the aquaculture experiments and related records will be handled.
- Research focus: The study compares two commercially important shrimp species under different diets, with attention to growth, feed use and immune-related responses.
- Scientific output: The university expects clear experiment records and strong manuscript support, so careful data handling is as important as daily culture work.
- Computer use: You should be comfortable documenting results, analysing research data and using statistical methods for scientific interpretation.
- Procurement context: Knowledge of government purchasing procedures is useful because research supplies and services may need to follow public-institution procurement rules.
- Late applications: The directorate states that a CV received after the closing point will not be taken up for the interview.
