About This Exam

The Government of Telangana, School Education Department, has released the notification for TGTET-June-2026 (Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test). This is a qualifying exam — you need to pass TG-TET before you can apply for teacher posts in Telangana government, local authority, and private aided schools. The exam will be held online (Computer Based Test) between 15 June 2026 and 30 June 2026. Apply online before 30 April 2026.

TG-TET June 2026 — Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test

Department of School Education, Government of Telangana (TGTET Cell, SCERT) has issued Rc.No. 222/TGTET-June-2026/2026 dated 13 April 2026 for TG-TET June 2026. This exam is conducted under the provisions of Section 23 of the Right to Education Act (RTE), 2009, and NCTE guidelines. Passing TG-TET is mandatory to be eligible for teacher appointment in Classes I to VIII. Your TET score also carries 20% weightage in the Telangana Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT). The TG-TET certificate is valid for lifetime — once you pass, you don't need to reappear unless you want to improve your score.

Two Papers — Which One Should You Take?

  • Paper I (Classes I to V): Appear if you want to teach primary school (Classes 1 to 5)
  • Paper II (Classes VI to VIII): Appear if you want to teach upper primary school (Classes 6 to 8)
  • Both Papers: Appear for both if you want to be eligible to teach Classes I to VIII

Who Can Apply?

For Paper I (Primary — Classes I to V)

  • D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) or D.Ed (Diploma in Education)
  • Candidates pursuing the final year of D.El.Ed / D.Ed are also eligible
  • Candidates who already hold a valid TET certificate can also apply to improve their score

For Paper II (Upper Primary — Classes VI to VIII)

  • B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) or Language Pandit qualification
  • Candidates pursuing the final year of B.Ed are also eligible
  • Candidates with Language Pandit equivalent qualifications as specified in the Information Bulletin

In-Service Teachers

  • All in-service teachers working in Government, Local Authority, and Private (Aided and Unaided) schools are allowed to appear for TG-TET
  • Secondary Grade Teachers and LFL Head Masters with both D.El.Ed and B.Ed qualifications can appear for Paper I
  • School Assistants, Language Pandits, and Head Masters of High Schools can appear for Paper II

Age Limit

  • No age limit specified in the notification for appearing in TG-TET
  • Age limits for teacher recruitment (TRT) will be separate — TG-TET is only the qualifying exam

Exam Fee

  • General / BC — One Paper only (Paper I or Paper II): Rs. 750
  • General / BC — Both Papers (Paper I and Paper II): Rs. 1,000
  • SC / ST / PwD — One Paper only: Rs. 700
  • SC / ST / PwD — Both Papers: Rs. 950
  • Payment Mode: Online only via schooledu.telangana.gov.in (15 April 2026 to 30 April 2026)

Exam Pattern and Pass Criteria

TG-TET is a Computer Based Test (CBT). Each paper has 150 objective-type (MCQ) questions for 150 marks. You will get 2 hours 30 minutes to complete each paper. There is no negative marking.

Pass Marks

  • General / EWS: 60% and above (90 out of 150)
  • BC (Backward Classes): 50% and above (75 out of 150)
  • SC / ST / Differently Abled: 40% and above (60 out of 150)

How to Apply

  1. Go to the official website at schooledu.telangana.gov.in or the TG-TET portal at tgtet.aptonline.in.
  2. Download and read the Information Bulletin (free of cost).
  3. Pay the exam fee online between 15 April 2026 and 30 April 2026.
  4. Fill in the online application form after fee payment.
  5. Submit your application — last date is 30 April 2026.
  6. Download your Hall Ticket from 9 June 2026 onwards.
  7. Appear for the exam between 15 June 2026 and 30 June 2026.

  • Prepare lesson plans and study materials as per the Telangana curriculum
  • Evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and class activities
  • Maintain student attendance records and academic registers
  • Follow school guidelines, government rules, and child protection policies
  • Participate in school development activities and teacher training programmes
  • Guide students in academic and personal development
