SVNIT Surat Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat has invited applications for 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a research project funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India. The research project focuses on high-temperature transient creep in fire resistance analysis of UHPC RC columns, involving both experimental and numerical assessment. Selected candidates will also get an opportunity to register for PhD at the Department of Civil Engineering, SVNIT Surat.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: You must have a first-division B.Tech or B.E. in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, along with an M.Tech or M.E. in Structural Engineering, Structural Dynamics Engineering, or Earthquake Engineering.
• Desirable: A valid GATE or NET qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Skills Preferred: If you have experience with software tools like SAP, ETABS, MATLAB, ABAQUS, ANSYS, Artificial Intelligence, or CFD, your application will stand out. Experience in simulating heat and mass transfer in structural members is a plus.
• PhD Opportunity: If you are selected, you will be encouraged to enrol for a PhD programme in the Department of Civil Engineering at SVNIT Surat.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 28 years (as on the date of application submission).
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC, ST, OBC, physically challenged, and women candidates as per government norms.

Salary

• JRF (first two years): Rs. 37,000 per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per SERB regulations.
• SRF (third year onwards): Rs. 42,000 per month plus HRA as per SERB regulations.
• The position is initially for one year and can be extended until the project ends.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting: Applications will be screened and candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be shortlisted.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, which may be conducted offline or online. You will receive an email notification with the interview date and mode.
