Sambalpur University Law Guest Faculty Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Sambalpur University has issued a department-level notice dated 11 June 2026 for Guest Faculty engagement in the P.G. Department of Law. This is a purely temporary teaching arrangement from 01 July 2026 to 31 December 2026, or until the vacancy is filled through regular recruitment, whichever happens earlier. The notice is useful for Law postgraduates, NET-qualified teachers, PhD holders and retired faculty who can teach at the university level.

Vacancy Breakdown

  • Post Graduate Department of Law / Law: 2 Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) posts

The notice covers only the Law department and does not merge other Sambalpur University Guest Faculty notices. You should attend this walk-in only if your academic profile matches Law teaching.

Who Can Apply?

  • Educational Qualification: You need qualifications as per UGC Guidelines 2018 for Assistant Professor level teaching.
  • Preferred Qualification: NET and PhD qualified candidates will get preference during consideration.
  • Fallback Condition: If PhD/NET candidates are not available, candidates with a Post-Graduate degree and good academic record may be considered.
  • Subject Match: Your degree, publications and teaching profile should match Law.

Carry proof for every major claim, especially marksheets, degree certificates, NET certificate, PhD certificate and publications. The department will check originals during the walk-in process.

Age Limit

  • Retired Faculty: Retired faculty may continue until they attain 70 years of age, subject to performance review.
  • Other Candidates: No separate minimum or maximum age is stated for non-retired candidates in the notice.

Engagement Conditions: The faculty engagement is reviewed from time to time and depends on satisfactory performance. Guest Faculty can get 10 days leave in a year, but statutory deductions such as income tax or TDS will be handled as per rules.

Important note: The notice clearly says this arrangement is not a regular, contractual or ad-hoc appointment. It is only a temporary academic engagement for the Law department during the stated period.

Salary

  • Assistant Professor with PhD: Rs. 1,000 per class, maximum 60 classes per month, up to Rs. 60,000 per month.
  • Assistant Professor without PhD: Rs. 750 per class, maximum 60 classes per month, up to Rs. 45,000 per month. NET-qualified candidates get preference.
  • Allowances: No other allowances or financial benefits are allowed for Guest Faculty.

The payment is linked to the number of classes taken. If more than 40 classes are taken in a month, the faculty member may also have to take up administrative assignments from the following month.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection will be based on academic record, research profile, demo class and viva-voce. There is no written exam for this Guest Faculty engagement.

  1. General Career: HSC, Intermediate, Degree and related academic record - 30 marks.
  2. Research Degree: M.Phil and PhD together carry up to 20 marks.
  3. Demo Class: 5 to 10 minutes demo class - 15 marks.
  4. Research Publication: 15 marks, including international and national journal publications.
  5. Viva-Voce: Final interaction - 20 marks.
  6. NET Preference: Preference may be given to candidates with NET qualification.

The demo class is only 5 to 10 minutes, so prepare one focused Law topic. Keep your proof of publications and research degree ready because those can affect the selection score.

Duties to Expect: The engaged faculty may teach courses, conduct examinations, support research guidance and take part in academic or research committees. The notice also says faculty will not hold administrative or financial responsibilities, so the main work is academic teaching and related support.
