Sambalpur University Professor Recruitment 2026 - 20 Posts

Sambalpur University, Jyoti Vihar, Burla (Odisha), a NAAC Grade-A accredited university, has released notification No. 2190/Section-8/Estt-III dated 04.05.2026 for filling up 20 regular faculty positions of Professor (including backlog vacancies if any) under UGC Pay Level-14. The recruitment covers 16 subjects including Business Administration, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, Economics, History, Law, Life Science, Physics and more. Eligibility is as per UGC Regulations dated 18 July 2018 and selection is based on screening and interview. There is no written exam.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility A (Academic)

• You must be an eminent scholar with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant subject.
• You must have at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
• You must have a total research score of 120 as per UGC Regulation Appendix II, Table 2 (dated 18 July 2018).
• You must have a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in a University or College, or equivalent research experience.
• Evidence of having successfully guided a doctoral candidate is required.

Eligibility B (Industry/Professional)

• An outstanding professional with a Ph.D. degree in the relevant/allied/applied discipline from an industry or academic institution, with significant contribution to knowledge in the field supported by documentary evidence and 10 years of experience.

Age Limit

• You must be below 60 years to apply (present superannuation age is 60).
• Eligibility is considered as on the closing date of online application (16 June 2026).

Salary

• Pay Scale: Cell-1 of Level-14 of the pay matrix under Odisha Revised Scales of Pay for University Teachers (UGC Scale of Pay) Rule, 2019
• Entry pay: Rs. 1,44,200 per month (as per 7th CPC Level-14)
• Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time

Selection Process

Selection happens in three stages:

1. Application Screening: Applications received by the due date are screened/scrutinized in 3 stages.
2. List of Eligible Candidates: The list of eligible and ineligible candidates will be displayed on the university website.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for interview. You must come prepared with a 9-slide PPT covering bio-data, subject strength, practical skill, vision for developed Odisha and Vikashit Bharat, AI in pedagogy, research projects, consultancy, collaborations, and employability contribution. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Selection committee is constituted as per Odisha University Act 1989 and UGC Notification 18 July 2018 (Table 2 of Appendix-II).

How to Apply

1. Go to the HIMS recruitment portal at himsrecruitment.odisha.gov.in (link will be active from 15 May 2026).
2. Register and fill in the online application form.
3. Upload soft copies of all supporting documents (PDF/Image, photo in JPEG less than 200 KB).
4. Pay the application fee online as per the bank details given in the portal.
5. Submit the online application before 16 June 2026 midnight.
6. Download the submitted application PDF and send a printed hard copy with all relevant documents by Registered/Speed Post to The Registrar, Sambalpur University, Jyoti Vihar, Burla, Sambalpur - 768019, Odisha.
7. The hard copy must reach the office on or before 26 June 2026. Superscribe the envelope with "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ..." along with Advertisement No. and Date.
