Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Miniratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways that builds and executes railway infrastructure projects across India, has issued Vacancy Notice No. 2026/RVNL/48-S&T for 1 post of General Manager or Additional General Manager in the Signal & Telecommunication (S&T) Department at its Corporate Office in New Delhi. This is a deputation posting for five years, meant for eligible IRSSE officers currently holding Group 'A' service in the S&T department. Preference will be given to officers with experience of working in a construction organisation — a useful detail if you have handled railway project execution before. Who Can Apply?

For General Manager (Pay Level 14, Rs. 1,44,200-2,18,200 CDA / IDA E-8, Rs. 1,20,000-2,80,000):

• You must be an S&T Department officer holding a post in an analogous grade (Level 14 CDA / IDA E-8), OR
• Holding a Level-13 post with 17 years of Group 'A' service, OR
• Holding an IDA E-7 grade post (Rs. 1,00,000-2,60,000) for four years

For Addl. General Manager (Pay Level 13-A / IDA E-7, Rs. 1,00,000-2,60,000):

• You must be holding a post in an analogous grade (Level 13-A CDA / IDA E-7), OR
• Holding a Level-13 post with 12-14 years of Group 'A' service, OR
• Holding an IDA E-6 grade post (Rs. 90,000-2,40,000) for four years

Experience: Preference is given to candidates with experience in a construction organisation.

Age Limit

• For General Manager: you should be below 58 years of age.
• For Addl. General Manager: you should be below 56 years of age.
• Your age and eligibility will be counted as on the closing date of this vacancy notice (9 September 2026).

Salary

• This is a deputation post, so you will get your parent pay plus deputation allowance — not a fixed RVNL salary.
• For General Manager, the applicable scale is Pay Level 14 (Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200) under CDA, or IDA E-8 (Rs. 1,20,000-2,80,000).
• For Addl. General Manager, the applicable scale is Pay Level 13-A under CDA, or IDA E-7 (Rs. 1,00,000-2,60,000).

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this deputation post. Selection is based on:

1. Screening of Applications: RVNL checks your eligibility, service record, and vigilance/DAR clearance.
2. APAR Review: Your Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APAR) for the last 5 years are considered.
3. Final Selection: Made by the competent authority at RVNL based on merit and organisational requirement.

• Lead and manage the Signal & Telecommunication (S&T) engineering functions for RVNL's railway infrastructure projects

• Coordinate with Zonal Railways and contractors to ensure timely completion of signalling works
• Monitor quality and safety standards during S&T installation and commissioning
• Guide subordinate engineers and oversee technical audits of ongoing projects
• Report project progress and technical issues to senior management
• Handle budget planning and cost control for S&T works
