Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli Technician Apprentice Recruitment 2026 - 60 Posts
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a Government of India Maharatna enterprise, has released a circular for engaging 60 Technician Apprentices (fresh Diploma holders) at its Tiruchirappalli unit for the year 2026-27, under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973. The training covers 5 engineering disciplines — Mechanical, Computer, Civil, Electronics & Communication, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. This is a one-year apprenticeship training program, not a regular job — BHEL has no obligation to offer employment after completion, and no apprentice can claim a job on the ground of completing the training. Candidates who completed a full-time Diploma course from a government-recognized institute in the last five years can apply online.
Vacancy Breakdown by Discipline
- Mechanical Engineering: 40 posts
- Computer Engineering: 6 posts
- Civil Engineering: 6 posts
- Electrical & Electronics Engineering: 5 posts
- Electronics & Communication Engineering: 3 posts
Note: The vacancy numbers above are tentative and may increase or decrease in any discipline at the discretion of BHEL management. Out of the total seats, 19% are reserved for SC, 1% for ST, 27% for OBC (NCL), 10% for EWS, and 4% for Physically Challenged candidates.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You need a 10th standard pass along with a Diploma (Regular Full-Time) in the relevant engineering discipline from a government-recognized institute.
- Minimum Marks: You need at least 60% marks if you are from the UR/OBC (NCL)/EWS category, or 50% marks if you are from the SC/ST category.
- Course Timing: Your Diploma must have been completed as a full-time regular course in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026. Distance Learning, Part-Time, Correspondence, or Sandwich courses are not accepted.
- Domicile Preference: Only candidates who passed their qualifying exam from a government-recognized institution in the state of Tamil Nadu will be considered first. If enough Tamil Nadu candidates are not available for a discipline, other candidates will then be considered for that discipline.
- Prior Training: You are not eligible if you have already completed or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act at any other organisation, or if you already have one year or more of work experience.
- Employee Dependents: If you are a dependent of a serving, retired, or deceased BHEL employee, reservation is available for you as per company rules.
- Physical Fitness: You must meet the minimum physical fitness standards specified under Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 27 years old as on 01 August 2026 for the General category.

- Subsidized food and hostel facilities are available during the training period. No TA/DA is paid for document verification or joining.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
The selection is entirely merit-based — there is no written exam:
- Merit List: Prepared based on the marks you scored in your qualifying Diploma examination.
- Tie-Breaker: If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is given preference.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce original documents for verification before joining.
