About This Job

Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bengaluru is hiring 2 Research Assistants on temporary basis for the Quantum Mixture (QuMiX) Laboratory. If you have an M.Sc in Physics or a B.E./B.Tech in Engineering Physics/Electronics with at least 60% marks, you can apply online. The last date to apply is 26 May 2026. Raman Research Institute (RRI) Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

The Raman Research Institute (RRI), an autonomous institute funded by the Government of India, has released Advertisement No. 11/2026 dated 27 April 2026 for 2 Research Assistant positions under the project titled "Quantum Technology Development Using Ultra Cold Atoms and Quantum Gases". The work will be carried out in the Light and Matter Physics (LAMP) Group at the Quantum Mixture (QuMiX) Laboratory under the guidance of Prof. Saptarishi Chaudhuri. This is a fantastic opportunity for young physics graduates and engineers to join a frontier quantum technology project at one of India's premier basic science research institutes.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualifications

  • M.Sc in Physics, Engineering Physics, Quantum Technology, or related fields
  • OR B.E./B.Tech in Engineering Physics, Electronics, or related fields with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent
  • OR M.Tech / M.Phil or equivalent degree with thesis work (will be given preference)
  • Candidates who have appeared in their final examination are also eligible. If selected, they must submit the provisional degree certificate at the time of joining.

Desirable Qualifications

The candidate should be motivated and have a flair for experimental work. Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:

  • Lasers and control electronics
  • Optics designing and alignment
  • Electronics purchase, handling, soldering, assembling, and designing
  • Control of instruments using LabVIEW
  • Radio-Frequency (RF) and Microwave signal processing

Preference will be given to candidates who have previously worked in the relevant research area and have hands-on experience.

Age Limit

  • Upper age limit: 25 years as on the last date for closing of applications (26 May 2026)
  • Age relaxation: Applicable as per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates

Salary

  • Consolidated remuneration: Rs. 31,000 per month
  • Plus admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA)

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection is based on:

  1. Application Screening: Shortlisting based on educational qualification, marks, and relevant experience
  2. Test / Interview: The institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for test or interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualification and experience higher than the minimum prescribed
  3. Document Verification: At the time of joining

Merely fulfilling the essential and desirable qualifications will not entitle an applicant to be called for the interview. References of two individuals (for referral letters) must be provided in the application.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team member in designing, assembling and calibrating components for quantum technology development
  • Handle optical components, laser sources, power supplies, and RF/microwave components in the laboratory
  • Perform measurements and operate scientific equipment in the QuMiX Laboratory
  • Assist scientists and PhD scholars in experimental setup and data collection
  • Maintain laboratory records of experiments and equipment usage
  • Contribute to scientific and technical developments under guidance of Prof. Saptarishi Chaudhuri
  • Follow lab safety protocols when working with lasers and high-voltage electronics

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

M.Sc in Physics / Engineering Physics / Quantum Technology / related fields, OR B.E./B.Tech in Engineering Physics / Electronics / related fields with minimum 60% marks

Preferred Qualification

M.Tech or M.Phil with thesis work in relevant area

Required Skills

Lasers and control electronics, optics designing and alignment, electronics soldering and assembly, LabVIEW programming, RF and microwave signal processing, experimental physics

Age Limit

18 - 25 years (as on 26 May 2026)
