Railway Recruitment Cell, North Central Railway (RRC NCR) Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 - 1853 Posts
Railway Recruitment Cell, North Central Railway (RRC NCR), Prayagraj has released Zonal Notification No. RRC/NCR/Act. Apprentice 01/2026, dated 7 July 2026, for engaging 1,853 Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This is a centralized notification covering training slots at NCR's Headquarters and Divisions in Prayagraj, Agra, and Jhansi, as well as the Jhansi workshop, for the training year 2026-27. Candidates from anywhere in India who meet the trade-specific ITI qualification can apply for this apprenticeship training opportunity with Indian Railways, one of the largest employers in the country. Note that an Act Apprentice engagement is a training program, not a regular railway job — it does not by itself guarantee permanent employment with the Railways, but it gives you valuable hands-on trade experience and a recognized apprenticeship certificate that can strengthen your future job applications, including future Railway recruitment drives.
Who Can Apply?
This apprenticeship gives you real hands-on training in your trade at Indian Railways workshops, along with a certificate recognized under the Apprentices Act, 1961 once you complete the training. It is a great starting point if you are an ITI-qualified candidate looking for practical industry exposure.
- Educational Qualification: You must have passed 10th class (Matriculation/SSC) or its equivalent under the 10+2 system with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
- Technical Qualification: You must hold an ITI certificate or National Trade Certificate affiliated to NCVT/SCVT in your relevant trade.
- Eligible Trades: Armature, Machinist, Wireman, Electrician, Painter, Mechanic (Diesel), Computer Networking Technician, Mechanic cum Operator (Electronics Communication System), Multimedia and Web Page Designer, Electrical and Electronics, Carpenter/Wood Work Technician, Draughtsman (Civil), Stenographer (English), Stenographer (Hindi), Information & Communication Technology System (Electronic Maintenance), Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), Turner, and other designated trades listed in the notification.
- Reservation: Besides standard SC/ST/OBC/EWS reservation, 4% of slots are horizontally reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and 3% for Ex-Servicemen.
- Note: If your Matriculation or ITI result was still awaited as on 7 July 2026 (the notification date), you are not eligible to apply. Candidates who failed their ITI exam should not apply either.
- Note: Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible for this recruitment — they are covered under a separate apprenticeship scheme.
- Trade Slots: The 1,853 slots are spread across NCR's Headquarters and Divisions at Prayagraj, Agra, and Jhansi, and the Jhansi workshop — so make sure you check which division is offering seats in your specific trade.
Age Limit
- You should be between 15 and 24 years old as on 7 July 2026 (the date of notification).
- Date of Birth Reference (UR category): You should be born between 8 July 2002 and 7 July 2011. Candidates getting age relaxation will have an earlier eligible birth date.
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation, and OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation.
- PwBD candidates get an age relaxation of 10 years.
- Ex-Servicemen get relaxation of up to an additional 10 years, limited to the length of service rendered in the Defence Forces plus 3 years (minimum 6 months continuous service required).
How to Apply
- Go to the official RRC NCR website at rrcpryj.org.
- Open the Act Apprentice 01/2026 notification and check the eligibility for your trade.
- Create a valid personal email ID if you do not already have one — you will need it throughout the engagement process.
- Register and fill in the online application form carefully, entering your educational and ITI trade details exactly as they appear on your certificates.
- Upload your Matriculation and ITI certificates along with other required documents.
- Submit your application well before 7 August 2026 to avoid last-minute website overload.
- Keep checking your registered email ID regularly, as all further communication about your application will be sent there.
The exact number of training slots available for each trade at every division is listed in Annexure A of the official notification PDF — check it carefully to see how many seats are open in your trade before applying.
Once your application is verified against the eligibility conditions and reservation category you have selected, your candidature will be considered purely on the basis of the information you filled in the online form, so double-check every detail before you submit.
