Who Can Apply?
- Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India.
- Educational Qualification: You must have passed at least +3 examination (graduation) or equivalent from a recognised University.
- Computer Qualification: You must have passed at least a Diploma in Computer Application from a recognised institute.
- Odia Language: You must be able to speak, read and write Odia and have passed a test in Odia equivalent to M.E. standard.
- Character: You must be of good character with two character certificates from gazetted officers/medical practitioners/sarpanch.
- Health: You must be of sound health, good physique and free from organic defects or bodily infirmity.
- Marital Status: You must not have more than one spouse living, if married.
Post-wise Skill Requirement
- Junior Typist: Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Stenographer Grade-III: Minimum 80 wpm in shorthand and 40 wpm in typing.
The typewriting test for Junior Typist and Stenographer Grade-III will be done on a Computer System in English language only.
Age Limit
- You must be between 18 and 42 years as on 01 May 2026.
- Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC and Women candidates.
- PwD and Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation as per relevant Government rules.
- Date of birth as per High School Certificate or equivalent will be accepted.
Salary
- Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist: Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month (Level-4 of ORSP Rule, 2017)
- Junior Typist: Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month (Level-4 of ORSP Rule, 2017)
- Stenographer Grade-III: Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month (Level-7 of ORSP Rule, 2017)
- You will also get DA and other allowances as admissible to the Government from time to time.
Note: Salary is subject to the result of WP(C) No. 1273/2014 pending before the Hon'ble High Court of Orissa, Cuttack.
Selection Process
Selection will be done in the following stages:
- Career Merit List: Career marks based on HSC, +2 and +3 examinations. Candidates up to 20 times the actual vacancy in each category will be called for the written test.
- Written Examination: Candidates up to 10 times the vacancy in each category will be shortlisted from the written test for the next stage.
- Computer Science Practical Test, Type Writing and Shorthand Test: As applicable to the post.
- Viva-Voce Test (Interview): Final stage to prepare merit list.
Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist Exam
- Part-I Writing Test: English (100 marks, 2 hrs), Arithmetic (100 marks, 1 hr), General Knowledge (100 marks, 1 hr)
- Part-II: Computer Science Practical (100 marks, 1 hr)
- Part-III: Viva-Voce (45 marks)
Junior Typist and Stenographer Grade-III Exam
- Part-I: English written test (100 marks, 2 hrs — qualifying in nature)
- Practical Test: Type writing 50 marks (10 mins) for Junior Typist; Shorthand + typing 50 marks (15 mins) for Stenographer Grade-III
- Part-II: Computer Science Practical (100 marks, 1 hr) and Viva-Voce (35 marks)

Responsibilities
- Handle file processing, copying and maintenance of judicial records in the District Court
- Prepare typed copies of judgements, orders and case papers as per court directions
- Take dictation in shorthand (for Stenographer) and prepare neat transcripts for judicial officers
- Maintain attendance, dispatch and inward registers of the court office
- Assist the Registrar and Bench Clerks with day-to-day administrative work
- Operate computer systems for case data entry, e-filing and CIS-related tasks
- Follow Odisha District & Civil Courts Judicial Staff Services Rules 2008 and court protocols
