Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), a State-owned power utility under the Government of Odisha, has released a short notice for 60 Management Trainee (Electrical) posts under Advertisement No. MPPR-01/2026-27 dated 19 May 2026. OPTCL handles transmission of electricity across Odisha and is looking for young, promising engineers to be inducted as Management Trainees. Selection is based on your valid GATE 2026 score in the Electrical Engineering paper — there is no separate written exam by OPTCL. Out of the 60 posts, 20 are reserved horizontally for women candidates.

Who Can Apply?

Salary

• During Training: Monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000 per month for the duration of the training period.
• After Training: Pay scale of Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month as per the applicable pay matrix.
• You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances as fixed by OPTCL from time to time.

Selection Process

The selection will be done on the basis of your GATE 2026 score. There is no separate written exam by OPTCL.

1. GATE 2026 Score (Electrical Engineering): Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their valid GATE 2026 score in the Electrical Engineering paper.
2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original certificates and documents.
3. Medical Examination: You must be medically fit as per OPTCL medical standards before final appointment.

• Assist in operation and maintenance of OPTCL substations and transmission lines across Odisha
• Monitor power flow, load dispatch, and grid stability under senior engineer supervision
• Carry out testing, commissioning, and inspection of electrical equipment
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs, and project documentation
• Coordinate with field staff for fault detection, breakdown response, and timely restoration
• Follow safety guidelines, ISO procedures, and Indian Electricity Rules at all sites
• Participate in training programmes at OPTCL's Power Training Centre (PTC), Bhubaneswar
• Support planning and execution of new transmission projects across the state
