OPTCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview
Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) is engaging Apprentices for practical training at its units and offices across Odisha. This state power utility transmits electricity, and the engagement brings engineering, office and trade disciplines into the same training programme. The apprenticeship is a training contract, so you should read the terms on completion and future employment before choosing it.
Posts and Disciplines
- Graduate Engineering Apprentices: Electrical, Information Technology and Telecom form the engineering degree group within the programme.
- Graduate Non-Engineering Apprentices: Human Resources, Finance and Law make up the office and professional discipline group.
- Diploma Technician Apprentices: Electrical, Telecom and Civil form the diploma group, separate from the graduate engineering stream.
- ITI Trade Apprentices: Electrician and Electronic Mechanic are the trade training options. Choose the stream that matches your qualification and the discipline named in the notice.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Training term: The apprenticeship runs for one year from the online training contract date. The contract date also determines when your stipend starts, subject to satisfactory performance.
- Employment after training: OPTCL does not promise a job when you finish. Completing this apprenticeship does not give you a right to regular employment with the corporation.
- Training location: OPTCL can place apprentices at its different units and offices throughout Odisha. You should be ready for the location assigned within the state.
- Stay arrangements: The corporation will not provide accommodation or an allowance instead of accommodation. You need to plan your own stay at the training location.
- Safety at work: Follow the safety rules at your assigned unit throughout the engagement. The notice makes compliance with local workplace safety instructions compulsory.
- Seat allocation: Discipline allocations may increase or decrease with the corporation’s needs. Reservation rules apply, and an unfilled discipline may be considered for applicants from another discipline within the same apprenticeship type.
- Unfilled seats: OPTCL may leave seats unfilled if suitable applicants are unavailable. Its management retains the final decision on acceptance, rejection and cancellation of the exercise.
- Travel costs: You must meet your own expenses when attending document checking or an interview. OPTCL will not reimburse travel, daily or other attendance expenses.
- Accuracy and conduct: Incorrect profile details can lead to rejection or cancellation even after engagement. Attempts to influence the process can also disqualify you.
Application Submission Notes
- Portal registration: Degree engineering, non-engineering and diploma applicants need a National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) registration, while ITI applicants need a National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) registration before applying through OPTCL.
- Registration number: Your NATS or NAPS enrolment number is needed for the separate OPTCL application, and your Aadhaar must be linked to your bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
- Help with the notice: Send apprenticeship queries to apprentice@optcl.co.in or call 9438908502. Use the corporation’s official channels if someone offers to influence your application.
