The Office of the Commissioner of Labour, Mumbai has released the Saralseva Pariksha Group-C 2026 advertisement to fill 78 vacant posts under Security Guard Boards and Mathadi, Hamal and Other Manual Workers Boards across Maharashtra. The exam will be held online only and selection is based purely on a computer-based written test — there is no interview. Freshers and experienced candidates can both apply.

Who Can Apply?
Inspector (Group C):
- Qualification: A degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification accepted by Maharashtra Government.
- Language: You must know Marathi (reading, writing and speaking).
Accountant (Group C):
- Qualification: A degree from a recognised university in the commerce stream.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of work experience in the accounts field.
- Language: You must know Marathi.
Steno-Typist (Group C):
- Qualification: A degree from a recognised university or equivalent qualification.
- Typing & Shorthand: You must have passed the Government Commercial Certificate Exam with English and Marathi shorthand at 80 words per minute AND Marathi typing at minimum 30 words per minute AND English typing at minimum 40 words per minute.
- Language: You must know Marathi.
- Basic Course in Computer Typing (Marathi 30 WPM and English 40 WPM) is also accepted in place of the commercial typing certificate.
Domicile: You must be an Indian citizen with at least 15 years of domicile in Maharashtra (a domicile certificate from the Tehsildar is required).
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 19 years
- Maximum age: 38 years (as on 11 June 2026)
- Age relaxation: Backward classes, Orphan, EWS — up to 43 years
- Sportsperson: up to 43 years
- Ex-Servicemen / Project / Earthquake affected: up to 45 years

- Part-time graduates: up to 55 years
- Registered Mathadi workers / Security Guards: up to 45 years
Salary
- Inspector: Pay Level S-13 — Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month
- Accountant: Pay Level S-13 — Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month
- Steno-Typist: Pay Level S-8 — Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month
- You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), HRA and other allowances as per Maharashtra Government rules.

Selection Process
Selection is based on a single online written exam — there is no interview:
- Online Written Exam (200 marks): Computer-based test of 100 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours. Subjects: Marathi (30), English (30), Reasoning (30), General Knowledge (30) and Acts relating to Labour, Maharashtra Security Guards Act 1981 and Mathadi Workers Act 1969 (80). Conducted in Marathi and English.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce all original documents along with two self-attested photocopies.
- Medical Examination: Final selected candidates must pass the medical fitness test by the District Civil Surgeon.
Minimum qualifying marks: Open category candidates need at least 45% and backward classes need at least 40% of total marks to be included in the merit list.

Responsibilities
- Enforce labour welfare laws and inspect establishments under the Mathadi and Security Guard Boards
- Maintain account records, prepare financial statements and audit reports for the boards
- Take shorthand notes, prepare drafts in Marathi and English, and type official correspondence
- Handle registration of unorganised sector workers and process welfare scheme claims
- Conduct site visits to verify worker registrations and safety compliance at workplaces
- Prepare periodic reports for the Commissioner of Labour and assist in court matters
- Coordinate with district labour offices on grievance redressal and welfare disbursement
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Graduation (any stream for Inspector and Steno-Typist; Commerce stream for Accountant) from a recognised university
Preferred Qualification
Knowledge of Marathi (reading, writing, speaking). For Steno-Typist: Government Commercial Certificate in English & Marathi shorthand (80 WPM) and Marathi typing (30 WPM) + English typing (40 WPM).
Required Skills
Marathi language proficiency; computer literacy (MS-CIT or equivalent); for Accountant — accounting knowledge; for Steno-Typist — shorthand and typing in both Marathi and English
