The University of Kota has released the notification for the Rajasthan State Eligibility Test (SET) 2026. This test decides your eligibility to become an Assistant Professor / Lecturer in colleges and universities across Rajasthan. The exam is held in 35 subjects. The University of Kota is the state agency that conducts the Rajasthan State Eligibility Test (SET) for the appointment of Assistant Professors. This is not a direct recruitment — it is a qualifying test. Once you clear SET, your certificate is valid for a lifetime and lets you apply for Assistant Professor posts in Rajasthan colleges, universities, and recruitment agencies. The exam will be held on 6 September 2026 and covers 35 subjects including Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, English, Hindi, Law, Management, and Mathematical Sciences.
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- General / Unreserved / General-EWS: Master's Degree (or equivalent) with at least 55% marks (without rounding off) from a UGC-recognised university.
- OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender: Master's Degree (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks (without rounding off).
Final-Year and Awaited-Result Candidates
- You can also apply if you are in the final year of your Master's or your result is awaited. You will be admitted provisionally and must pass your Master's with the required marks within two years of the SET result.
- You must appear in the SET subject of your post-graduation only. If your subject is not in the list of 35, you may appear in UGC NET / UGC-CSIR NET instead.
Age Limit
- There is no upper age limit to appear in the Rajasthan SET 2026.
Application Fee
- General / SBC / OBC (Creamy Layer) of Rajasthan and all Out-of-State candidates: Rs. 1,500
- EWS / SBC / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of Rajasthan: Rs. 1,200
- SC / ST of Rajasthan and all PwD candidates: Rs. 750
Third gender candidates get the same fee relaxation as SC/ST/PwD categories.
Selection Process
The SET has two papers, both with objective-type multiple choice questions (MCQ) and no break between them:
- Paper I (100 marks, 50 questions, 1 hour): Tests your teaching and research aptitude — reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.
- Paper II (200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours): Tests deep knowledge of the subject you have chosen.
Each question carries 2 marks. There is no negative marking. To qualify, you must meet the subject-wise cut-off for your category.

Exam Pattern
The Rajasthan SET 2026 has two papers, both objective-type MCQ. There is no break between the papers and the total duration is 3 hours (180 minutes).
Paper-wise Breakdown
- Paper I: 50 questions for 100 marks in 1 hour — tests teaching/research aptitude, reasoning, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.
- Paper II: 100 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours — tests knowledge of the subject you choose.
Marking: Each correct answer gets 2 marks. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
Medium: Question papers are in English and Hindi (language subject papers are in the concerned language only).
