Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) is a UGC-graded Category 1 autonomous university based in Kottayam, Kerala. The Registrar has invited applications for Resident Tutor posts in the university's Women's Hostels. The job is temporary, on a one-year contract basis, and the Resident Tutor is expected to live in the hostel and look after the resident students. Only women candidates who are willing to stay in the hostel will be considered.

This is a good opportunity if you are a woman graduate who enjoys mentoring students and can commit to living on campus. As a Resident Tutor, you act as the first point of contact for the girls staying in the hostel — you help keep the hostel safe and disciplined, support students with their day-to-day needs, and step in during emergencies. Because the role is residential, you should be comfortable staying in the hostel through the academic year.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must hold a degree from a recognised university.
• Computer knowledge is preferred (treated as desirable).
• Women only: Only women candidates can apply, and you must be ready to stay in the hostel.
• Reserved categories: If you belong to a reserved community, keep your caste / non-creamy layer certificate ready to attach with the application.

Age Limit

• You must have completed 25 years of age and be below 50 years as on 1 July 2026.

Salary

• You will get a fixed salary of Rs. 21,000 per month.
• The appointment is on a one-year contract basis.

Selection Process

1. Application screening: The university checks your certificates and eligibility. Applications that arrive late or have mistakes are rejected without exception.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are informed of the interview date later by email.

Carry your original certificates for verification when you attend the interview. Remember, this selection is purely temporary and gives you no claim to a permanent post in the university.
