Who Can Apply?

You must be a native of Puducherry UT or have been a resident for at least 5 years continuously before the notification date. Different posts need different qualifications:

Junior Engineer (Civil) — Post Codes 1001, 1002

• Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institute, OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
• For Post 1002: Degree in Civil Engineering OR Diploma in Civil Engineering with 3 years' experience

Junior Engineer (Mechanical/Marine & Mechanical) — Post Codes 1003, 1004

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university, OR
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years' experience in maintaining machineries in a port or reputable organization, OR
• Part 'A' MOT Certificate of competency as 2nd Class Engineer (Motor)

Junior Scientific Assistant — Post Code 1007

• Postgraduate Degree in Chemistry / Microbiology / Environmental Science / Biochemistry / Ecology from a recognized university

Technical Assistant — Post Code 1008

• Master's Degree in Science / Mathematics, OR
• Degree in Engineering / Technology from a recognized university

Section Officer — Post Code 1009

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university, OR
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years' experience, OR
• Part 'A' MOT Certificate of competency as 2nd Class Engineer (Motor)

Junior Engineer (Environment) — Post Code 1012

• Degree in Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university

Public Relations Assistant — Post Code 1013

• Degree from a recognized university
• Diploma in Journalism / Mass Communication / Public Relations / Advertising
• Proficiency in Tamil / Malayalam / Telugu (depends on region-wise vacancy)

Sub-Inspector of Fisheries — Post Code 1014

• Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries Science / Zoology from a recognized university
• Must be physically fit for outdoor duty

Age Limit

• Maximum 30 years for most posts (Post Codes 1001-1004, 1007-1009, 1012, 1014)
• Maximum 32 years for Public Relations Assistant (Post Code 1013)
• Age calculated as on 13 April 2026 (last date for online application)

Age relaxation:

• MBC / OBC: 3 years relaxation
• SC / ST: 5 years relaxation
• Ex-Servicemen: Period of military service plus 3 years
• PwBD: 10 years (over and above SC/ST/OBC relaxation)
• Widows / Divorced Women: Up to 35 years (40 years for SC & ST)
• Government Servants: Up to 40 years (45 for SC/ST officials)

Salary

• Group B Posts (Level 6): Basic pay Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month — applies to Junior Engineer, Junior Scientific Assistant, Technical Assistant, and Section Officer posts
• Group C Posts (Level 5): Basic pay Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 per month — applies to Public Relations Assistant and Sub-Inspector of Fisheries
• You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances as per Government of Puducherry rules

Selection Process

1. Written Competitive Examination — Objective type (OMR-based), consisting of 2 papers:
   • Paper I (Common Paper): 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours — covers General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Studies & Current Affairs, Ethics & Morality, English Language, and Computer Knowledge
   • Paper II (Subject-Specific): 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours — syllabus based on your chosen post (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, etc.)
2. Certificate Verification — Original documents checked for shortlisted candidates

Important exam details:

• Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer
• Weightage: Paper I gets 25% weightage and Paper II gets 75% weightage for most posts
• Language: Paper I is bilingual (English + Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam). Paper II is in English only
• Minimum qualifying marks: UR — 30%, OBC/MBC/EBC/BCM/BT/EWS — 25%, SC/ST/PwBD — 20%
