Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Qualification: You must have passed HSC/Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board.
• Equivalent qualification: Approved ITI/NCVT and diploma routes treated as equivalent to Class 12 under Gujarat Government rules may be accepted as stated in the notification.
• Computer knowledge: You need basic computer knowledge certificate or equivalent proof as per Gujarat Government rules.

Driving Licence and Experience

• Licence: You must hold a valid heavy public/passenger vehicle driving licence and badge from the Regional Transport Office.
• Male candidates: Heavy driving licence should be at least 4 years old, and you need at least 4 years of heavy vehicle driving experience after getting the heavy licence.
• Women candidates: Valid heavy licence and badge are required at the time of application. Experience is preferred, and training conditions apply where experience is not available.
• Vision: You should have clear vision and must not be colour blind.

Important Conditions

• Application details must match your certificates: name, birth date, licence, badge, category and experience details should be entered exactly as shown in your documents.
• Experience certificate: The certificate should clearly show heavy vehicle driving experience for the same period you enter in the online form.

Age Limit

• You should be between 25 and 35 years old as on the last date of application, 05 July 2026.
• General women: upper age up to 40 years.
• Reserved male candidates: upper age up to 40 years.
• Reserved women candidates: upper age up to 45 years.
• Ex-Servicemen: upper age up to 45 years as per the notice.
• The notification says the maximum age with all relaxations should not cross 45 years.

Salary

• Selected Drivers will get a fixed salary of Rs. 26,000 per month for five years.
• During the fixed-pay period, other allowances or benefits are not paid except those allowed under rules.
• After satisfactory completion of five years, candidates can move to the regular Driver pay structure applicable in GSRTC.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates

• Height: Minimum 162 cm.
• ST male candidates: Minimum height 160 cm.
• Vision: Clear vision and no colour blindness.

For Female Candidates

• Height: Minimum 158 cm.
• Vision: Clear vision and no colour blindness.

Application Fee

• General category: Rs. 300 + GST
• Reserved categories, all women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS and Ex-Servicemen: Rs. 200 + GST
• Payment mode: Online through OJAS.
• Fee once paid is non-refundable.

Selection Process

Selection is based on written exam marks and driving test performance:

1. OMR Written Exam: 100 questions for 100 marks in 1 hour. The written exam carries 40% weightage in the final merit.
2. Driving Test: Candidates are called for the driving test in about 1:2 ratio based on written exam merit and vacancy category. The driving test is for 50 marks, and you must score at least 35 marks to pass. It carries 60% weightage.
3. Document Verification: Education, age, licence, badge, experience, category, computer certificate and identity documents are checked.
4. Medical/Fitness Check: Vision and other fitness conditions are verified as required for bus driving work.

• Check vehicle condition, fuel, brakes, lights and basic safety items before duty

• Coordinate with conductors, depot staff and traffic supervisors during trips
• Report accidents, breakdowns, delays and route issues to the depot office
