Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) is hiring 150 Veterinary Inspectors on a permanent basis under the Department of Animal Husbandry, Punjab. PSSSB Veterinary Inspector Recruitment 2026 — Advt No. 10 of 2026
The Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab has released Advertisement No. 10 of 2026 on 24 April 2026 for the post of Veterinary Inspector. There are 150 vacancies in total, of which 51 posts are reserved for women. Who Can Apply?
- 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized University or Board
- 2-year Diploma in Veterinary Science and Animal Health Technology or equivalent from any recognized university
- Candidates currently enrolled in the Vet Science diploma or holders with 10+2 in Biology/Math, Physics, Chemistry and English are also eligible
- Punjabi language at Class 10 (Matriculation) level is mandatory under Punjab Civil Services Rules 1994 Rule 17
- Punjab domicile required to claim reservation benefits — certificate must not be older than 5 years

- Minimum age: 18 years (as on 1 January 2026)
- Maximum age (General): 37 years
- SC / BC: up to 42 years
- Government employees (State & Central): up to 45 years

Salary
- Pay Level: L-5 (Rs. 29,200 – 92,300 per month) as per 7th Central Pay Commission
- Plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other allowances as per Punjab Government rules
- Salary is fixed at Rs. 29,200 per month at the time of joining as the entry-level basic pay

Selection Process
- Online Application Submission with required documents and fee
- Written Examination (Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions) divided into two parts:
- Part A: Punjabi Language paper at Class 10 level — qualifying nature, you need at least 50% marks
- Part B: Subject paper — merit list is prepared based on Part B marks only. Each correct answer = 1 mark, each wrong answer = 1/4 negative marking
- Document Verification / Counselling — candidates called as per merit must produce all original certificates
- Final Recommendation by the Board to the concerned department

Responsibilities
- Inspect veterinary hospitals, dispensaries and livestock farms across Punjab
- Assist veterinary officers with animal disease diagnosis, treatment and vaccination drives
- Maintain medical records and inventory of veterinary medicines, vaccines and equipment
- Monitor cattle, poultry and livestock health programmes run by the Animal Husbandry department
- Support artificial insemination programmes and animal breed improvement schemes
- Conduct field visits to investigate disease outbreaks and submit timely reports to senior officers
- Educate farmers on animal nutrition, hygiene and government livestock welfare schemes
- Help organise animal health camps and maintain official correspondence with the directorate
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology AND 2-year Diploma in Veterinary Science and Animal Health Technology from a recognized university
Preferred Qualification
Diploma in Veterinary Science and Animal Health Technology with 10+2 in Biology/Math, Physics, Chemistry and English
Required Skills
Animal health knowledge, veterinary diagnosis basics, livestock management, fieldwork, Punjabi language proficiency at Class 10 level, record keeping

Exam Pattern
The PSSSB Veterinary Inspector written exam is an Objective Type Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) paper divided into two parts:
- Part A — Punjabi Language: Class 10 level Punjabi paper. This is qualifying in nature — you need at least 50% marks to qualify. Marks from Part A do not count for the merit list.
- Part B — Subject Paper: Merit list is prepared based on Part B marks only. Each question carries 1 mark. There is 1/4 negative marking for each wrong answer, so attempt carefully.
If two candidates have the same Part B marks, the older candidate by date of birth gets the higher rank. Further tiebreaks use percentage in the required educational qualification, then matriculation marks. Roll number, syllabus and exam date will be released on sssb.punjab.gov.in.
