PSSSB Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026

Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has invited online applications for the post of Junior Engineer in three disciplines: Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical. These are Group-B level positions across different departments under the Punjab Government. The total number of vacancies will be based on positions reported by various departments up to 30 September 2026. Diploma holders in engineering who are Punjab domicile residents should not miss this opportunity. Selection will be through an objective-type written examination followed by document verification.

Note: The exact number of vacancies in each discipline will depend on the posts received from Punjab Government departments by 30 September 2026. Reservation for General, SC (Mazbi and Balmiki), SC (Ramdasia and Others), BC, EWS, ESM, PwD, Sports, and Freedom Fighter categories will apply as per Punjab Government rules.

Who Can Apply?

For Junior Engineer (Civil):

• Qualification: You should have a 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution. Higher qualification in the same discipline is also accepted.

For Junior Engineer (Mechanical):

• Qualification: You should have a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution. Higher qualification in the same discipline is also accepted.

For Junior Engineer (Electrical):

• Qualification: You should have a 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution. Higher qualification in the same discipline is also accepted.

• Domicile: You must be a resident of Punjab. A valid Domicile/Residence Certificate is mandatory for every category.
• Language: You must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects, or passed an equivalent Punjabi language examination.
• Cut-off date for qualification: The last date of application (06 April 2026) is the cut-off date for meeting the educational qualification requirements, unless otherwise provided in the relevant rules.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 37 years old as on 01 January 2026.
• SC and BC candidates (Punjab): Upper age limit is relaxed to 42 years.
• State and Central Government employees: Upper age limit is relaxed to 45 years.
• Ex-Servicemen (Punjab): Upper age limit as per Punjab Recruitment of Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1982. The period of military service is deducted from actual age, and the resulting age should not exceed the upper limit by more than 3 years.
• PwD candidates (Punjab): Upper age limit is relaxed by 10 years (maximum 47 years).
• Widows, divorcees and certain other categories of women: Relaxed up to 40 years as per Punjab Government instructions.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary starting from Rs. 35,400 per month under Pay Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix.
• The pay range extends up to Rs. 1,12,400 per month at the maximum of the level.
• You will also receive DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Punjab Government rules.

Application Fee

• General / All Other Categories: Rs. 1,500
• SC / BC (Punjab State only): Rs. 750
• Ex-Serviceman / EWS / PwD / LDESM (Punjab State only): Rs. 500
• Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
• Payment mode: Online only.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Written Examination (Objective Type - MCQ): The exam will be an OMR-based multiple choice question paper. A merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained. In case of equal marks, the older candidate gets preference. If the date of birth is also the same, both candidates will be considered equal in merit and their eligibility will be decided by the concerned department.
2. Document Verification and Counselling: Candidates who qualify the written exam will be called for document verification. You will need to bring all original documents, certificates, and their self-attested photocopies.

Note: The merit list will remain valid for posts received up to 30 September 2026 from various Punjab Government departments.

How to Apply

1. Go to the PSSSB portal at sssb.punjab.gov.in and click on "Apply Online".
2. New users need to click "Register here" and create a User ID and Password using a valid Email ID.
3. Log in with your User ID and password, then click "Apply for Service" to start the application.
4. Select the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Mechanical), or Junior Engineer (Electrical) as per your discipline.
5. Fill in your personal details, educational qualification, and category information carefully.
6. Upload your photograph, signature, and required documents. Use a live photo captured during the application process as specified.
7. In the "Attach Annexure" section, upload your 10th class certificate, Domicile/Residence Certificate, educational/technical certificates, and other relevant category documents.
8. Pay the application fee online.
9. Click "Submit" and take a printout of the completed application form for your records.

• Prepare engineering drawings, estimates, and detailed project reports for civil, mechanical, or electrical works
• Supervise ongoing construction, installation, and maintenance work at assigned project sites
• Monitor material quality and ensure compliance with approved specifications and government standards
• Maintain daily progress reports, measurement books, and site registers
• Assist senior engineers in planning, tendering, and contract management activities
• Inspect completed works and report defects or deviations to higher authorities
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other departments for smooth project execution
