Selection Process
The selection is entirely through a written examination in two parts. Part A is a qualifying Punjabi language paper where you need at least 50% marks to move forward. Part B is the merit-based section covering General Knowledge, Reasoning, English, Punjab History, and ICT. Once you clear the written test, you will be called for document verification and counselling.
Preparation Tips
- Focus on Part A first -- since it is qualifying, make sure your Punjabi reading and writing skills are sharp enough to score at least 50%
- Master General Knowledge and Current Affairs -- this section typically carries the highest weightage in Part B, so read daily newspapers and follow Punjab-specific developments
- Practice Punjab History and Culture -- questions on Sikh Gurus, freedom fighters from Punjab, folk traditions, and important historical events frequently appear
- Work on Logical Reasoning -- practice number series, coding-decoding, analogies, and direction-based problems daily
- Mind the negative marking -- Part B deducts 0.25 marks for each wrong answer, so avoid random guessing
Documents You Will Need
- 10th Class Marksheet and Certificate -- must show Punjabi as a subject
- Date of Birth Proof -- typically the 10th class certificate or birth certificate
- Category Certificate -- SC/BC/EWS candidates must have a valid certificate issued by the competent authority in Punjab
- Domicile Certificate -- proof of being a resident of Punjab, required for age relaxation benefits
- Passport Size Photographs -- recent, white background, as per specifications on the application portal
- Aadhaar Card -- for identity verification
- PwD Certificate -- if claiming disability reservation, a certificate from the designated medical board
- Ex-Serviceman Certificate -- if applicable, issued by the competent military authority
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned duties as Sewadar, Chowkidar, Sweeper, Mali, or other Group D roles in Punjab government offices and departments
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of office premises, gardens, and surrounding areas
