The Office of the District Programme Officer (ICDS), Pratapgarh (Bal Vikas Seva Evam Pushtahar Vibhag, Uttar Pradesh) has started direct recruitment for 250 vacant Anganwadi Worker posts across 18 child development projects in Pratapgarh district, covering both city and village areas. With 250 openings, this is one of the bigger Anganwadi drives in the region and a great chance for local women to work close to home. An Anganwadi centre is the smallest unit of the ICDS scheme. It provides food, health support and early learning to children below 6 years and helps pregnant women and new mothers nearby. As an Anganwadi Worker you run this centre in your own area, which is why only local resident women are picked. Most workers serve the same centre for many years, so it is a steady, long-term engagement. The ICDS scheme is run by the state Women and Child Development set-up, and Anganwadi Workers are its key field-level staff who carry nutrition, health and pre-school services to every village and ward.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• You must have passed Intermediate (12th class) or an equal exam from a recognised board.
• Your merit is prepared by adding marks from Intermediate up to Post-Graduation, so a higher qualification improves your rank.

Other Requirements

• Only women candidates can apply.
• You must be a permanent resident of the same ward or gram sabha where the post is vacant. If no eligible woman is available there, a permanent resident of the related nyaya panchayat can be considered.
• As per the state government order, preference is given to Below Poverty Line women and to widows and legally divorced or deserted women.
• Fill the form strictly as per the rules in the government order; any dispute is decided under those provisions.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on 1 January 2026.
• The upper age limit is 35 years for all applicants.

Salary (Honorarium)

• You get an honorarium of about Rs. 6,000 per month (Rs. 4,500 basic + Rs. 1,500 extra honorarium) as per UP Government norms.
• You also get a monthly incentive for nutrition and health work on top of the honorarium.

This is an honorarium-based post under the ICDS scheme, not a regular government pay-scale job. The notification does not print a fixed amount; it follows the current UP Government rate.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam and no interview. Selection works like this:

1. Merit List: A merit list is prepared from your Intermediate, graduation and post-graduation marks. Higher marks give a better rank.
2. Preference: As per the government order, BPL women and widows or divorced/deserted women are given priority.
3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must show original certificates for checking. Wrong details lead to cancellation.

3. Fill in the online form for the vacant post in your own ward or gram sabha.
4. Upload your photo, signature and self-attested certificates as per the government order.
5. Submit the form and keep a printout for your record.

Offline forms are not accepted in any case. Apply early, because the portal gets busy near the 28 July 2026 deadline.

Before you start, keep your scanned certificates, a recent photo and your signature ready. First check the notice board or portal list to confirm that your own ward or gram sabha has a vacancy, because you can apply only for your home area. If no eligible woman is found in a ward or gram sabha, the post may be filled from the related nyaya panchayat.
