The office of the District Programme Officer (Child Development), Varanasi has released a notification to fill 187 vacant Anganwadi Worker posts spread over 9 child development projects in the district. These posts run under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme and the work is based on a fixed monthly honorarium. These posts are meant only for local women residents of the ward or gram sabha where the vacancy exists. Who Can Apply?

• Gender: Only women candidates are eligible for these posts.
• Qualification: You must have passed 12th (Intermediate) or an equivalent exam from a recognised board. For the merit list, your marks from Intermediate up to Post-Graduation are added together, so higher studies help your rank.
• Residence: You must be a permanent resident of the same ward or gram sabha where the post is vacant. Your residence and caste certificates must be the online digitally-signed ones issued by the Tehsil.
• Certificates: Your residence, caste and income certificates are verified online, so make sure they are the digital, Tehsil-issued versions before you apply.
• Income: Your family must be below the poverty line — annual income up to Rs. 46,080 for rural areas and up to Rs. 56,460 for urban areas.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on 01 July 2026.
• Your age will be counted from your High School (10th) marksheet and certificate.
• Reservation for SC, ST and OBC candidates will be applied as per Uttar Pradesh government orders.

Salary

• You will get a fixed honorarium of Rs. 4,500 per month plus an additional honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per month — a total of Rs. 6,000 per month as per current rules.
• The Anganwadi honorarium is reviewed by the state government from time to time, so the amount can be revised as per future government orders.
• This is an honorarium-based post, not a regular government salary. The post is purely temporary and can be ended at any time as per government rules.

Selection Process

There is no written exam and no interview for these posts. Selection is done in this order:

1. Merit List: A merit list is prepared by adding your academic marks from Intermediate up to Post-Graduation.
2. Document Verification: Your residence, caste, income and age certificates are checked online. Widows must give a death certificate and family register; divorced or separated women must give the relevant court order.

Only the details filled online on the website are used for selection. No document will be accepted offline.
