The Child Development Project Officer, POSHAN Project Srinagar (under the Social Welfare Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir) has released its 6th Phase Advertisement Notice (No. 03-CDPO (SGR) of 2026) to fill vacant posts of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers in Anganwadi Centres across Srinagar. These are honorarium-based engagements, and the posts are tied to specific electoral wards. Who Can Apply?
Only women candidates can apply, and you must be a domicile of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and a resident of the electoral ward where the Anganwadi Centre is located (your name should be in the voter list of that ward).
For Anganwadi Worker (Sangini):
- Qualification: You need to have passed 10+2 (12th). Graduation is the maximum allowed — candidates with a qualification higher than graduation are not eligible.
- Selection: Based purely on marks obtained in 10+2.
For Anganwadi Helper (Sahayika):
- Qualification: You need to have passed matriculation (10th). If no matriculate is available in the ward, candidates with at least 8th standard can be considered.
- Preference: The committee gives preference to the most needy or destitute married woman of the ward who meets the criteria. If no married candidate is available, an unmarried candidate may be considered.
If you belong to the family of a retiring Anganwadi Worker or Helper, you get an extra 2% weightage points.
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 37 years old as on 01 January 2026.
- Only women candidates are eligible for these posts.
Salary
- Selected candidates will be engaged on an honorarium basis as per Mission POSHAN norms. This is not a regular pay-scale post.
- The honorarium is paid every month as fixed by the Government of J&K for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers.
Selection Process
There is no written exam. Selection is done as follows:
- Merit List: For Anganwadi Workers, a merit list is prepared based on marks in 10+2. If two candidates have the same merit, the older candidate is preferred. For Helpers, the committee selects the most needy married woman who meets the qualification.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear with original documents such as marksheets, date of birth / matriculation certificate, domicile certificate and (where needed) an unmarried certificate.

Responsibilities
- Run the Anganwadi Centre in your electoral ward and look after children under 6 years of age
- Provide supplementary nutrition to children, pregnant women and nursing mothers
- Conduct pre-school and early childhood activities for young children
- Keep records of children's growth, immunisation and health check-ups
- Spread awareness about health, nutrition and hygiene in the community
- Help organise immunisation drives and health camps at the centre
- Assist in cooking, serving meals and keeping the Anganwadi Centre clean
