Who Can Apply?

Contractual Geologist (Micropaleontology)

• Qualification: M.Sc. in Geology/Applied Geology or M.Tech in Geology/Applied Geology of minimum 2 years duration from a government recognised institute.
• Ph.D. requirement: You must have a Ph.D. with specialization in Micropaleontology.
• Experience: You need more than 1 year post-qualification work experience in a geological laboratory of the oil and gas industry, research organisation, university or institute.
• Preferred work area: micropaleontology, biostratigraphy, paleoenvironmental analysis, biomarkers, stereomicroscopy and microfossil extraction.

Contractual Geologist (Petrology)

• Qualification: M.Sc. in Geology/Applied Geology or M.Tech in Geology/Applied Geology of minimum 2 years duration from a government recognised institute.
• Ph.D. requirement: You must have a Ph.D. with specialization in Petrology.
• Experience: You need more than 1 year post-qualification work experience in a geological laboratory of the oil and gas industry, research organisation, university or institute.
• Preferred work area: igneous/metamorphic petrology, mineralogy, petrography, thin section work, SEM, XRD, XRF, EPMA and field mapping.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Upper age limit: 45 years
• Age date: age will be checked as on the date of walk-in registration, 26 May 2026.

Salary

• Monthly salary: Rs. 70,000 per month
• Incidental payment: Rs. 500 per day for the actual number of days worked for OIL outside the place of posting
• Salary note: the total contract emoluments consist of fixed and variable components.

Selection Process

Selection will be through Walk-in Interview of total 100 marks.

• Carry out geological laboratory studies in the assigned specialisation
• Use specialist equipment such as microscopes, SEM, XRD, XRF, EPMA or related laboratory systems
• Collect site samples and support field visits when required
• Interpret geological, geochemical, micropaleontological or petrological data
• Prepare analysis records, project updates and technical reports for the reporting authority
• Track consumables, materials and laboratory requirements for assigned work
• Follow OIL safety measures, HSE policies and code of conduct in laboratory and field work
