Preparation Tips for NPCIL Executive Trainee Exam

  • Know your time: You get 120 minutes for 100 questions -- that is about 72 seconds per question. Practice solving questions within this time limit.
  • Watch out for negative marking: Each wrong answer costs you 1 mark out of the 3 marks you could gain. Do not guess blindly -- skip questions you are unsure about.
  • Focus on your core subject: ET(Physics) candidates should revise classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and nuclear physics thoroughly. ET(I&FS) candidates should focus on fire prevention, industrial hazards, safety management, and fire technology.
  • Practice with previous year papers: Look for NPCIL and other DAE exam papers on the official websites to understand the difficulty level and question style.
  • Remember -- interview decides your rank: The CBT is only a screening test. Your final selection depends entirely on interview performance. So prepare for technical interviews as well.
  • Take mock tests: Take at least 5-10 timed mock tests before the exam to build speed and accuracy.
