National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA), Guwahati has released Advertisement No. NLUJAA/ESTT/F/RECRUITMENT/UFS/2026/001 for 9 regular faculty positions under the University Faculty Service. The recruitment covers four different teaching posts across Law and Political Science departments. Selection will be through interview only with no written exam. Who Can Apply?

For Professor of Law (Academic Level 14):

• Qualification: You need a doctoral degree in Law or a related discipline with published work of high quality and at least 10 research publications as books or research papers.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of post-graduate teaching or research at a University or National-level institution, including experience guiding doctoral research.
• Additional: Contribution to educational innovation, new curricula design, and technology-mediated teaching. Minimum API scores as per UGC Regulations 2010.
• OR an outstanding professional with established reputation and significant contributions to the field of law.

For Associate Professor of Law (Academic Level 13A2):

• Qualification: You need a doctoral degree in Law or a related discipline, along with a Master's degree with at least 55% marks.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of teaching or research equivalent to Assistant Professor level, excluding the doctoral research period. At least 5 research publications required.
• Additional: Contribution to educational innovation and evidence of guiding doctoral or research students. Minimum API scores as per UGC Regulations 2010.

For Assistant Professor of Law / Political Science (Academic Level 10):

• Qualification: You need a Master's degree with at least 55% marks in a relevant subject from a recognized university.
• NET/SET: You must have cleared UGC NET, CSIR NET, SLET, or SET.
• Exemption: If you hold a Ph.D. degree awarded as per UGC Regulations 2009, you are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.

Note: A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) in Master's degree marks is available for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Candidates from IIMs/IITs/National Law Universities or reputed foreign institutions are preferred.

Age Limit

Salary

• Professor of Law: Academic Level 14 with entry pay of Rs. 1,44,200 per month (7th CPC equivalent of PB-4 Rs. 37,400-67,000 + AGP Rs. 10,000)
• Associate Professor of Law: Academic Level 13A2 with entry pay of Rs. 1,31,400 per month (7th CPC equivalent of PB-4 Rs. 37,400-67,000 + AGP Rs. 9,000)
• Assistant Professor of Law / Political Science: Academic Level 10 with entry pay of Rs. 57,700 per month (7th CPC equivalent of PB-3 Rs. 15,600-39,100 + AGP Rs. 6,000)
• You will also receive DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Central/State Government rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on interview and academic credentials. There is no written examination for these posts.

1. Screening of Applications: The university may shortlist candidates based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed, especially when the number of applications is large.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. Candidates from abroad or PwD category may be considered for Skype interview.
3. Document Verification: Original documents, certificates, mark sheets, teaching/research experience proof, and published articles will be verified.

For Professor and Associate Professor posts, you must ensure you meet the minimum API scores as prescribed by UGC and attach supporting evidence with the application.
