The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) has released a notification for 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I post in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The post is part of a research project titled "Hosting Capacity and Flexibility Market Enhancement using Decentralized Optimization in TSO-DSO-DER coordinated Framework", funded by the Advanced Research Grant (ARG) of ANRF and guided by Principal Investigator Dr. Ankur Singh Rana. The project builds a decentralized framework to bring more renewable energy into the power grid. You will work on improving hosting capacity, using demand-side flexibility, cutting network congestion through Distribution Locational Marginal Pricing (DLMP), and helping the grid handle the ups and downs of renewable power. You can also register for a Ph.D. at NIT Trichy after joining, which makes this a strong start for anyone who wants a research career in power systems.

Who Can Apply?

Basic Qualification (Both Posts)

• You need a B.E./B.Tech with First Class in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electrical & Computers Engineering, or Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE).
• Preferred: M.E./M.Tech in Power Systems Engineering or an equivalent branch with First Class (60% or 6.5 CGPA).

For JRF (Higher Stipend)

• You must have a valid GATE score. Your GATE paper and qualifying degree must match the project's subject area.

For Project Associate-I

• Candidates without GATE can apply for the Project Associate-I position at a slightly lower stipend.

Other Rules

• Only candidates who have already been awarded their degree or hold a provisional certificate can apply.
• If you already work in a government or government-owned organization, you must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the interview or apply through proper channel.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 32 years as on the closing date of the advertisement (17 July 2026).
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates, as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• JRF (GATE qualified): Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA for the first two years, and Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA in the third year.
• Project Associate-I (non-GATE): Rs. 30,000 per month + HRA for the first two years, and Rs. 33,000 per month + HRA in the third year.
• The post is for 1 year and can be extended up to 3 years or till the project ends, based on your performance.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam. Selection is done in these steps:

1. Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on the marks in the qualifying degree and the criteria set by the selection committee.
2. Interview (Offline): Only shortlisted candidates are called by email for an offline interview at NIT Trichy. No TA/DA is paid for attending.
3. Document Verification: You must show all original certificates before the interview and submit one self-attested copy of each.
