The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, one of India's top-ranked NITs and an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is looking to fill the post of Assistant Librarian on deputation basis. Who Can Apply?

For Deputation

You can apply if you are an officer from the Central or State Government, Institutes of National Importance, Universities, University-level Institutions, or PSUs, and you meet both these conditions:

• Holding an analogous post (Assistant Librarian or equivalent) in your current organization
• Possessing the educational qualifications listed below

Educational Qualification (Essential)

• Master's Degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation Science with at least 60% marks (or an equivalent professional degree, or equivalent grade of 6.5 on a 10-point scale, or grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale)
• A consistently good academic record with superior knowledge of computerized library service
• Qualifying in a national-level test such as NET / SLET / SET conducted by the UGC or any UGC-approved agency

Desirable Qualification

• PG Diploma in Library Automation and Networking or PGDCA or equivalent
• Ph.D. or higher degree in a relevant discipline is preferred

You must also get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your current employer. No vigilance or disciplinary cases should be pending against you.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 56 years
• Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India norms
• No relaxation for SC/ST/OBC applying for unreserved vacancies
• Age and eligibility will be determined as on 12 April 2026 (last date of online application)

Salary

• Pay Band: PB-3 (Rs. 15,600-39,100) with Grade Pay Rs. 5,400
• 7th CPC Pay Level: Level 10 — Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month (basic pay)
• Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other benefits as per Central Government / NIT rules
• On deputation, you will draw your parent department pay plus deputation allowance as per applicable Government of India norms
• Selected candidates will be covered under the New Pension System (NPS)

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this post. Selection will be based on:

1. Screening of Applications — The institute may screen and restrict the number of applicants called for further stages
