NIT Srinagar Temporary Teaching Staff Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Srinagar (NIT Srinagar), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is holding a walk-in interview to engage temporary teaching staff for its Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Hazratbal campus in Srinagar. These positions keep the department's classes running until regular faculty members join, so the engagement is purely temporary.

The drive is open to Indian nationals with a metallurgy background and a PhD. It is a good fit if you have just finished your doctorate and want teaching experience at an NIT — direct PhD holders who went straight from B.Tech to PhD can also apply.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement lasts 11 months or until a regular faculty member joins the department, whichever comes first.
• Agreement: If selected, you must sign an agreement to serve the institute on the terms it sets.
• Pay basis: The fixed monthly pay is given only for active duty on this assignment.
• Joining: You must join immediately and stay physically present at the posting station in Srinagar.
• Accommodation: NIT Srinagar does not provide accommodation; you have to arrange your own stay.
• No permanency: This engagement gives you no claim to continued employment or a permanent post later.
• Changes: The institute may increase or reduce the number of posts, or defer or cancel the notice at any stage.
• Canvassing: Any form of canvassing makes you ineligible.
