National Institute of Technology Raipur (NIT Raipur) is inviting applications for 1 Research Associate-I in an ANRF-sponsored Mathematics research project. NIT Raipur Research Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Department of Mathematics at NIT Raipur has issued Advertisement No. NITRR/Maths/2026/448 for a Research Associate under the project titled A Mathematical Modeling Study of Breast Cancer Dynamics in Human Populations: Bridging Epidemiological Theory and Public Health Application. The project is sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation under its Inclusivity Research Grant scheme.

The appointment is purely temporary and project-based. The project duration is 3 years, but the selected candidate will initially be appointed for 1 year. Continuation for another 2 years is linked to satisfactory performance in each semester and the remaining project period. The appointment does not create a claim to a regular or part-time post at NIT Raipur or another organization.

The research sits at the intersection of mathematics, epidemiology and public health. You will help turn biological and population assumptions into testable models, examine how parameter choices affect disease patterns, and connect the results with real public-health questions. The role also needs clear scientific writing because project findings, semester reviews and journal papers must explain the modelling choices and limitations to both mathematical and health-focused readers.

Who Can Apply?

• Degree route: A PhD degree in Mathematics from an Institute of National Importance.
• Submitted-thesis route: A PhD thesis in Mathematics submitted at an Institute of National Importance, provided the PhD defence is completed by the time of appointment.
• Publications: At least 2 research papers published in SCI or SCIE journals.
• Preferred research area: Mathematical or epidemiological modelling of cancer or other chronic diseases, computational analysis of disease dynamics, and mathematical models applied to public-health problems.
• Preferred publication area: Mathematical biology, epidemiology, cancer modelling or a closely related subject.

The notice does not prescribe a separate minimum number of employment years. Your research record, publications, doctoral work and relevance to the project will be considered. Attach every claimed research-experience certificate so the panel can connect your earlier work with the project. If your background includes mathematical oncology, epidemiological modelling or computational public health, explain that relevance clearly in your CV and interview.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 35 years at the time of appointment.

Fellowship and Duration

• Monthly fellowship: Rs. 58,800

Selection Process
