About This Job
NIT Meghalaya is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for an ANRF-funded research project in the Department of Electrical Engineering. If you have an M.Tech/M.E in Electrical Engineering or are a GATE-qualified B.Tech/B.E holder, you can apply. The fellowship goes up to Rs. 42,000 per month and the project runs for 3 years. The last date to apply is 25 July 2026.

The National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya) has invited applications for 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)-funded sponsored research project. The project is titled "Insights on Provision of Ancillary Services Through TSO-DSO Interaction Considering Cyber-Resilient Operation" under Principal Investigator Dr. Sanjoy Debbarma. The selected fellow also gets the chance to pursue a Ph.D as per institute norms, plus free hostel accommodation on campus.
Who Can Apply?
- Option 1: M.Tech / M.E in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power & Energy Systems, Power Electronics & Drives, Renewable Energy, or Smart Grid (or equivalent).
- Option 2: GATE-qualified candidates with a B.Tech / B.E in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, or other related disciplines.
Salary
- Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years.
- Rs. 42,000 per month for the third year.
- The fellowship is available for a maximum of 3 years or until the project ends.
- Free hostel accommodation is provided on the campus.

Selection Process
Selection is done through:
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on merit and the needs of the project. Just meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call.
- Online Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an online interview. You will be informed only through email.
No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Responsibilities
- Carry out research work on TSO-DSO interaction and ancillary services in power systems
- Develop and test cyber-resilient operation models for smart grid applications
- Run simulations and analyse results for the ANRF-funded project objectives
- Prepare technical reports, research papers, and project documentation
- Assist the Principal Investigator and co-investigators in project milestones
- Present research findings in project reviews and academic forums
- Pursue Ph.D work alongside the project as per institute norms
