NIT Meghalaya is hiring a Deputy Director from among its own senior faculty members. If you are a Professor with at least 5 years of experience as Professor and 2 years as HoD/Dean, and are below 60 years of age, you can apply offline only. National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya) Deputy Director Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya), one of the 31 NITs established by the Government of India and declared an Institution of National Importance, has released a notification for 1 Deputy Director post. This is an internal appointment open only to senior faculty members of the Institute who have a proven administrative, teaching, and research background, including experience guiding Ph.D. scholars. The Deputy Director holds all powers of the Director during any vacancy in that post and assists the Director in academic, administrative, and liaison work, including maintaining ties with other institutions of higher learning and with industry.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligibility: You must be a serving senior faculty member (Professor) of NIT Meghalaya. This appointment is made from amongst the Institute's own senior faculty, based on the recommendation of a Selection Committee.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as Professor, including at least 2 years as Head of Department (HoD) or Dean.
• Academic Record: You should have an outstanding academic record with significant contribution to academics, administration, and outreach activities, plus experience guiding Ph.D. research.

Age Limit

• You should not be exceeding 60 years of age at the time of applying.

Selection Process

The selection is done through the following process:

1. Screening by Selection Committee: A Selection Committee of at least 5 members, including a Chairman with expertise in technical education, is constituted by the Central Government with prior approval of the Visitor.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview before the Selection Committee.
3. Recommendation and Appointment: The Board of Governors appoints the Deputy Director from the panel recommended by the Selection Committee.

The appointment is on contract for 3 years initially, which the Board can extend up to 2 more times, one year at a time, based on need and performance.
