NIT Durgapur JRF/SRF/Project Associate Recruitment 2026 — 6 Posts

National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) has released Advertisement No. NITD/CK/EE/ANRF/NHPC/ADV/26-27/01 dated 06 April 2026 for recruitment of research and technical manpower in the Department of Electrical Engineering. The posts are under two funded projects: an ANRF Sponsored Project (SRCC Ref. No. NITD/SRCC/CK/EE/2026-27/3) and an NHPC Sponsored R&D Project (LoA Ref. No. NH/R&D/2024/06). Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at NIT Durgapur, M G Road, Durgapur — 713209, West Bengal. The research focus areas include Partial Discharge Monitoring, Ultra High Frequency sensors, High Voltage Test Techniques, FPGA design, and Embedded C/C++ programming.

Vacancy Breakdown

• Senior Research Fellow (SRF) / JRF (01) — ANRF Sponsored Project (36 months)
• Project Assistant / Associate-I, II / Senior Project Associate (03) — NHPC Sponsored R&D Project (24 months)
• Student Interns (02) — NIT Durgapur only (EE/CSE 3rd Year students)

Total: 6 posts (A + B + C). All positions are co-terminus with the respective project.

Who Can Apply?

For JRF/SRF (Post A — ANRF Project):

• BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in EE, CSE, ECE, EIE or a similar circuit branch from a recognised university
• Desirable experience: Partial Discharge Monitoring, Ultra High Frequency sensors, High Voltage Test Technique
• Programming skills preferred: C#, .NET, Embedded C/C++, FPGA (Verilog), Analog/Digital System Design, Microcontroller Programming, PCB Design

For Project Associate / Technical Positions (Post B — NHPC Project):

• BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in EE, CSE, ECE, EIE or similar circuit branch
• Experience in R&D (varies by level — 2 years for Associate-II, 4 years for Senior Project Associate)
• Electronics skills preferred: Analog/Digital circuits, Microcontroller, PCB Design

For Student Interns (Post C — NIT Durgapur only):

• Currently enrolled in 3rd Year of BE/B.Tech in EE or CSE at NIT Durgapur
• Open to NIT Durgapur students only

Age Limit

• Age will be calculated as on 23 April 2026
• Project Associate-I: Upper age limit 35 years
• Project Associate-II: Upper age limit 35 years
• Senior Project Associate: Upper age limit 40 years
• Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD as per Government of India rules

Fellowship / Salary

• JRF: Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA as per institute norms (as per DST norms, Circular No. DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022)
• SRF: Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA as per institute norms
• Project Associate-I: Rs. 25,000–31,000 per month + HRA (based on GATE/NET selection or other process)
• Project Associate-II: Rs. 28,000–35,000 per month + HRA
• Senior Project Associate: Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA
• Student Interns: Rs. 8,000 per month (flat, no HRA)
• Note: JRFs/SRFs and Research Associates are not entitled to DA, bonus, gratuity, or leave travel concession. HRA is allowed as per Central Government norms for the city of posting where hostel accommodation is not available.

Selection Process

Selection is through a single-stage interview:

1. Application Screening: Submitted applications are reviewed by the selection committee (Dean R&D or nominee, subject experts from inside and outside the Institute, and the Principal Investigator).
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at NIT Durgapur, M G Road, Durgapur – 713209, West Bengal. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
3. Document Verification: You must bring the complete application form (Annexure III), all original certificates, results of qualified exams, DOB proof, experience certificates, training certificates, BE/B.Tech and ME/M.Tech project reports, training reports, publications (if any), and SCI journal papers.

These positions are purely contractual and do not entitle selected candidates to claim any regular appointment at NIT Durgapur.

• Conduct research in high voltage test techniques, partial discharge monitoring, and related areas as assigned by the Principal Investigator
• Design and develop FPGA-based systems, embedded firmware (C/C++), and digital/analog circuits for project deliverables
• Build and test hardware prototypes including PCB layouts, sensor assemblies, and measurement setups
• Maintain accurate lab records, research logs, and progress reports as required by the funding agency
• Present research findings at internal project reviews, workshops, and scientific conferences
• Prepare technical reports and contribute to journal/conference publications in SCI-indexed outlets
• Support other team members and assist the PI in project management tasks under ANRF and NHPC sponsored programs
