National Institute of Technology Calicut Research Scientist I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut) has scheduled an offline walk-in interview on 29 May 2026 for Research Scientist I on contract basis. The position is under the ICMR, Government of India project on spatio-temporal predictive modelling of mental wellbeing using GIS, climate and environmental determinants in India. The engagement is for 1 year and can be extended up to 3 years.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification Option 1: B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. or Integrated M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent from an Institute of National Importance or AICTE-approved university/institution.
• Marks Requirement: You need minimum 65% marks or 7.0 CGPA in M.E./M.Tech.
• Qualification Option 2: B.E./B.Tech. from an Institute of National Importance with minimum 85% marks or 9.0 CGPA.
• Relaxation: SC, ST and PwD candidates get relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA.
• Desirable: GATE/NET qualification and proficiency in computer programming.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years.
• Relaxation: Age relaxation will be given as per Government of India norms.

Salary

• Monthly Pay: Rs. 56,000 per month.
• HRA: 20% HRA is payable if accommodation is not provided by the institute.
• Total with HRA: The monthly amount can be up to Rs. 67,200 when HRA applies.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection is through shortlisting and offline interview. NIT Calicut will notify shortlisted candidates by email before the interview.
