National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is hiring 3 Coordinators on a contract basis for its KUSUMA project — an Integrated Mental Health Initiative led by Dr Girish N Rao, Professor of Epidemiology. For Taluka Coordinator

  • Qualification: You need a Master's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Economics from a recognised university.

  • Language: You should be able to read, write, and speak fluently in Kannada and English.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years as on 24 April 2026.
  • Age relaxation as per NIMHANS norms for reserved categories.

Salary

  • Project Coordinator: Rs. 60,000 per month (consolidated)
  • Assistant Project Coordinator: Rs. 55,000 per month (consolidated)
  • Taluka Coordinator: Rs. 45,000 per month (consolidated)

All salaries are consolidated amounts. No separate DA, HRA, or other allowances are payable.

Selection Process

Selection will be through a walk-in process with the following stages:

  1. Written Test: You must score a minimum of 50% marks in the written exam to qualify for the next stage.
  2. Skill Test / Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the written test will face an interview. For direct interview posts, you must score at least 50% marks in the interview.

Note: The institute reserves the right to select a suitable candidate. Meeting the essential qualifications alone does not guarantee selection.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise field activities related to the mental health initiative
  • Coordinate with stakeholders at state and taluka levels
  • Draft IEC (Information, Education, Communication) campaigns and related materials
  • Plan and undertake activities in educational institutions across Bangalore rural district
  • Prepare reports and handle project administration tasks
  • Assist in health-related field-based data collection and social media messaging
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator and project team at NIMHANS

Experience in mental health / school mental health programs and state-level project coordination
