National Health Mission - Tamil Nadu Advisor KMD Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Health Mission - Tamil Nadu (NHM TN) has released the Terms of Reference for Advisor - Knowledge Management & Development at SHSRC. SHSRC works as a technical resource institution for the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu. This role is important because it will help SHSRC act as a knowledge hub for evidence-based public health policy, health technology assessment and programme innovation.

What the Advisor Will Lead

• Knowledge repository: Build a structured source of global and national public health best practices relevant to Tamil Nadu.
• Evidence translation: Convert research, programme experience and innovation into policy briefs, concept notes and technical recommendations.
• Health Technology Assessment: Assess new interventions, diagnostics, equipment and technologies for effectiveness, cost, feasibility and public health impact.
• Best-practice documentation: Capture successful initiatives from DPH, DMS, DME and NHM so they can be shared within and outside the state.
• Research support: Work with academic institutions, medical colleges and research organisations to support operational research and health systems innovation.

The expected outputs include a knowledge repository, evidence-based policy briefs, Health Technology Assessment reports, documentation of Tamil Nadu innovations and stronger evidence-based decision-making within the health system. This makes the role suitable for senior public health professionals who can connect research, policy and programme implementation.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Medical Graduate: You must have a medical graduate degree from a recognised institution.
• Postgraduate qualification: You must also have PG qualification in Public Health, Community Medicine, Preventive & Social Medicine, Health Management, Public Policy or an equivalent field.

Experience Required

• Minimum experience: You need at least 10 years of professional experience in public health, health systems research, policy analysis, knowledge management or programme evaluation.
• Desirable experience: Work in health systems research, policy analysis, knowledge management, Health Technology Assessment or programme evaluation will help.
• Government health exposure: Experience with government health systems, academic institutions or research organisations is desirable.

Skills Needed

• Evidence synthesis: Ability to convert research findings and programme learning into policy briefs, technical summaries and recommendations.
• Health Technology Assessment: Ability to assess clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, feasibility and public health impact of technologies.
• Coordination: Ability to work with DPH, DMS, DME, NHM, academic partners, development partners and public health experts.

Reporting and Coordination

• Reporting authority: The Advisor reports to the Chief Advisor, SHSRC.
• Administrative control: The role comes under the Mission Director, National Health Mission - Tamil Nadu.
• Internal coordination: The Advisor works with other SHSRC divisions such as Digital Health & Analytics, Health Systems Strengthening and Programme Innovation.
• External coordination: The role involves engagement with health directorates, academic institutions, development partners and public health experts.

This is not a routine desk post. The ToR expects the Advisor to provide technical guidance and mentorship to Technical Programme Officers, Consultants and Interns, and to review technical outputs before they go to senior decision-makers.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 50 years.

Salary
