NHM Chandigarh Consultant Maternal Health Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Health Mission (NHM), Chandigarh, which works under the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Chandigarh administration, is hiring a Consultant for Maternal Health under its RCH II (Reproductive and Child Health) programme. This is a contractual walk-in engagement — there is no written test, and the choice is made on the interview day itself at the mission's office in Sector 16.

The role suits a doctor or dental surgeon who also holds a public-health or hospital-management postgraduate degree. If you have already worked on maternal health or family planning programmes, you will have an edge, because the notice lists that experience as a preference.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The first contract runs only till 31 March 2027. It can be extended depending on your performance and conduct, or on how long the project lasts.
• Full-time degree only: Your postgraduate degree in Hospital Administration, Health Management, Hospital Management or Public Health must be a full-time course from a recognised institute or university.
• Categories: The notice says candidates from the General, SC and OBC categories who meet the requirements can apply.
• No travel allowance: NHM Chandigarh will not pay any TA/DA for attending the interview.
• Post may change: The Mission Director can increase or reduce the number of posts, or cancel the walk-in, without giving a reason.
