NFR Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 — 56 Vacancies

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is hiring 56 sportspersons across Group C and Group D posts under its Sports Quota recruitment for the year 2026-27. If you are a talented player in one of 13 sports and have passed at least Class 10th, you can apply online. The last date to apply is 10 August 2026. Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), one of the zonal railways under the Ministry of Railways, has released an indicative notification to fill 56 posts against the Sports Quota through open advertisement. Out of these, 21 posts are in Pay Level 2 and 3 (Group C) and 35 posts are in Pay Level 1 (Group D). Selection is based on your sports skill and achievements, not a written test, which makes this a great chance for national and state-level players to get a permanent government job. • Pay Level 1 posts (Group D): 35 posts
• Pay Level 2 and 3 posts (Group C): 21 posts

Recruitment is open in the following 13 sports disciplines:

• Archery, Athletics, Basketball, Badminton and Boxing
• Cricket, Football, Golf and Kabaddi
• Power Lifting, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Weightlifting

Who Can Apply?

• Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India.
• Qualification (Pay Level 1 posts): Class 10th (Matriculation) pass, or ITI, or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).
• Qualification (Pay Level 2 and 3 posts): Class 12th (+2 stage) pass, or higher, depending on the sport and post.
• Sports Achievement: You must be an active sportsperson who has represented at recognised events such as International, National, Inter-University, or State-level competitions in your discipline.

Your sports achievements should normally be from the current financial year or the previous two financial years. The exact qualification for each post depends on the sport and pay level given in the detailed notification.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 25 years old.
• Age Relaxation: As per railway sports quota rules, no age relaxation is allowed — this applies to all categories including SC, ST and OBC.

Salary

• Pay Level 1: Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 56,900 per month.
• Pay Level 2: Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month.
• Pay Level 3: Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and other benefits as per Railway (7th CPC) rules.

Application Fee

• General / OBC: Rs. 500 (Rs. 400 is refunded after you appear for the trial)
• SC / ST / Women / Ex-Servicemen / Minorities / EBC: Rs. 250 (refunded after you appear for the trial)

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written examination. Selection is done in the following stages:

1. Sports Trial: Your game skill, physical fitness and overall performance are assessed by expert coaches.
2. Assessment and Interview: Your sports achievements, certificates and educational qualification are evaluated along with an interview.
3. Document Verification
4. Medical Examination

You must clear the sports trial to move ahead. Final merit is prepared on the basis of your trial performance and sports achievements.
