The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is hiring 12 posts under the Scouts & Guides Quota for the year 2026-27. Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Scouts & Guides Quota Recruitment 2026-27 - 12 Posts

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), under the Ministry of Railways, has issued an indicative notification (EN-03/2026) to fill 12 posts in various pay levels through active Scouts and Guides who are citizens of India. Only candidates who hold a President's Scout/Guide award or an equivalent Scouts & Guides qualification can apply. This is a regular railway job with good pay and job security. Who Can Apply?

You must meet both the education and the Scouts & Guides conditions:

  • Scouts & Guides qualification: You must hold the President's Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger award or the Himalayan Wood Badge, and have been an active Scout/Guide for at least 5 years with participation in specified national and state level events.
  • Level 2 posts: You should have passed 12th (10+2) or equivalent with at least 50% marks (relaxed for SC/ST and Ex-Servicemen, and not insisted upon if you hold a higher qualification).
  • Level 1 posts: You should have passed 10th (SSLC). For technical/artisan posts, a 10th pass with ITI/NAC (NCVT/SCVT) is required.

Age Limit

  • The minimum age is 18 years.
  • The upper age limit and category-wise relaxations (SC/ST/OBC/Ex-Servicemen) are as given in the detailed notification. For Level 2 posts, the upper limit is generally around 30 years for UR, with relaxation for reserved categories, calculated as on 1 July 2026.

Salary

  • Pay Level 1: Rs. 18,000 – Rs. 56,900 per month (7th CPC).
  • Pay Level 2: Rs. 19,900 – Rs. 63,200 per month (7th CPC).
  • You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other railway allowances as per rules.

Selection Process

There is no written exam. Selection is done through:

  1. Assessment of Scouts & Guides record: A selection committee reviews your awards, achievements and participation in Scouts/Guides events.
  2. Interview / Personality Assessment
  3. Document Verification
  4. Medical Examination

  • Carry out duties of the assigned Level 1 or Level 2 railway post

  • Take part in Scouts & Guides activities and railway welfare programmes

  • Help during railway events, camps and public service duties
  • Follow railway rules, instructions and safety guidelines

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

10th (SSLC) pass for Level 1 posts (with ITI/NAC for technical posts); 12th (10+2) with 50% marks for Level 2 posts. Candidates must also hold a recognised Scouts & Guides award.

Required Skills

President's Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger award or Himalayan Wood Badge; active Scout/Guide for at least 5 years.
