National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA-TIFR) RAC Ooty Recruitment 2026 - 4 Posts

The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), part of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) under the Department of Atomic Energy, is looking for electronics engineers and trainees to work at its Radio Astronomy Centre (RAC), Ooty - home to the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT). This is a separate advertisement (2026/10) from NCRA's other current openings, specifically for the Ooty campus. All three posts are fixed-term, with no absorption into permanent service after the term or training ends. The notification was published on 6 August 2026.

RAC Ooty has operated the historic Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) since the 1970s, and continues to play an important role in NCRA's radio astronomy research alongside the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) near Pune. As an Engineer or Trainee at RAC Ooty, you will get hands-on exposure to real radio telescope hardware and antenna control systems - valuable experience for a career in electronics, instrumentation or applied research. Who Can Apply?

Project Engineer (Electronics) - Rs. 88,300/month:

• Full-time BE/B.Tech in Electronics or an allied field with 60% marks from a recognized university/institute
• 0-3 years' experience in Electronics is desirable

Engineer Trainee (Electronics) - Rs. 35,000/month:

• Full-time BE/B.Tech in Electronics or an allied field with 60% marks
• 0-3 years' experience in Electronics is desirable

Lab. Assistant Trainee (Electronics) - Rs. 18,500/month:

• National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) awarded by NCVT in Electronics trade, with 60% marks

Age Limit

• You should be up to 28 years old for all three posts (age relaxation given as per rules for reserved categories).
• Age, qualification and experience are counted as on 31 August 2026.

Salary

• Project Engineer (Electronics): Rs. 88,300 per month (fixed), tenure of 1 year extendable up to 3 years
• Engineer Trainee (Electronics): Rs. 35,000 per month stipend, tenure of 1 year extendable up to 2 years
• Lab. Assistant Trainee (Electronics): Rs. 18,500 per month stipend, tenure of 1 year extendable up to 2 years
• There is no absorption into permanent service after the term or training ends.
