The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), an autonomous institute of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), has released Recruitment Advertisement No. 2026/09 for 22 vacancies across nine posts - five Project posts linked to the international Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project and four Trainee posts. NCRA-TIFR operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) near Pune, the world's largest radio telescope at metre wavelengths. Project Administrative Assistant - 1 Post (Rs. 63,900/month):

• Graduate with 55% marks, proficiency in word processing/database/accounting, and 3 years' experience in Accounts, Purchase, Stores, or Admin.

Project Technical Assistant - Low Hardware / OMC / SRC - 8 Posts (Rs. 63,900/month):

• Full-time Science Graduate (60% marks) in Electronics/Electrical/Computers/Networking, or a Diploma in Engineering (Electronics), with PC knowledge. SRC posts additionally need Linux, networking, and Python programming skills.

Engineer Trainee (Servo) - 2 Posts (Rs. 35,000 stipend):

• BE/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication or Electronics Engineering with 60% marks.

Library Trainee - 1 Post (Rs. 22,000 stipend):

• Graduate plus B.Lib.I.Sc/M.Lib.I.Sc, with 0-2 years of relevant experience.

Administrative Trainee - 6 Posts (Rs. 22,000 stipend):

• Graduate with typing and computer knowledge; fluency in English preferred.

Tradesman Trainee - Electrical - 2 Posts (Rs. 18,500 stipend):

• National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in Electrical/Electrician trade with 60% marks. A valid electrical wireman license is mandatory.

Age Limit

• Maximum age varies by post: 40 years (Project Administrative Officer), 33 years (Project Administrative Assistant, and SC/ST candidates for Project Technical Assistant), 31 years (Project Technical Assistant SRC - OBC), and 28 years for most Technical Assistant and Trainee posts.
• Age Relaxation: As per NCRA-TIFR rules for reserved categories.
• Age, qualification and experience are reckoned as on 31 August 2026.

Salary

• Project posts (SKA-linked, 3-year tenure): fixed monthly emoluments ranging from Rs. 63,900 to Rs. 1,03,400 depending on the post.
• Trainee posts (up to 2-year tenure, no absorption guarantee): fixed stipend ranging from Rs. 18,500 to Rs. 35,000 per month.
