The Indian Navy has opened online applications for Agniveer (Apprentice) 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches. Indian Navy Agniveer Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Indian Navy is recruiting Agniveer Apprentices for the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches through INET 2/2026. The exact trade-wise vacancies will be decided by the Navy based on service requirement, so no fixed vacancy number has been notified. Training for the 01/2027 batch is planned for December 2026 and training for the 02/2027 batch is planned for May 2027 at INS Chilka, Odisha. After four years, up to 25% of each batch may get a chance to apply for regular sailor enrolment, based on Navy policy and performance.
Who Can Apply?
- Nationality and gender: You must be an unmarried Indian male candidate.
- Education: You must have passed Matriculation with at least 50% marks from a board recognised by the Ministry of Education.
- Diploma: You must have completed a three-year diploma course with at least 50% marks from an AICTE recognised Polytechnic Institute.
- Engineering trades: Marine Engineering and Systems, Mechanical, Production/Automobile, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Repair and Maintenance, Power Plant Engineering, Industrial/Production, Maintenance, Machine, Manufacturing/Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Instrumentation, or Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
- Electrical trades: Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation Technology, Electronics, Electrical and Electronics, or Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
- Marital condition: You must remain unmarried during the full four-year Agniveer tenure.
- Desirable: Sports, swimming, and extra-curricular activity proficiency is desirable.
Age Limit
- 01/2027 batch: You should be born between 01 December 2004 and 31 May 2009, both dates included.
- 02/2027 batch: You should be born between 01 May 2005 and 31 October 2009, both dates included.
- INET 2/2026: Candidates born between 01 December 2004 and 31 October 2009 can apply for Stage I, with Stage II eligibility decided batch-wise.
Salary
- 1st year: Rs. 30,000 monthly package, with Rs. 21,000 in hand and Rs. 9,000 contribution to Agniveer Corpus Fund.
- 2nd year: Rs. 33,000 monthly package, with Rs. 23,100 in hand.
- 3rd year: Rs. 36,500 monthly package, with Rs. 25,550 in hand.
- 4th year: Rs. 40,000 monthly package, with Rs. 28,000 in hand.
- Seva Nidhi: On completing four years, the corpus has Rs. 5.02 lakh candidate contribution and Rs. 5.02 lakh Government contribution.
- Other benefits: Risk and hardship allowance, dress allowance, travel allowance, medical facilities, CSD facilities, and Rs. 48 lakh non-contributory life insurance cover.
Physical Standards
For Male Candidates
- 1.6 km run: Complete within 06 minutes 30 seconds.
- Squats: 20 uthak baithak.
- Push-ups: 15 push-ups.
- Bent-knee sit-ups: 15 sit-ups.
- Minimum height: 157 cm, with relaxation rules available on the official Navy website.
- Vision: Uncorrected vision 6/12, corrected vision 6/6, and colour perception CP PASS.
Application Fee
- Stage I INET fee: Rs. 550 plus 18% GST.
- Payment mode: Online through net banking, credit card, debit card, RuPay card, or UPI.
- Stage II fee: No separate fee is charged for the Stage II process.
Selection Process
The Indian Navy selection process has Stage I INET, followed by batch-wise Stage II recruitment.
- Stage I INET 2/2026: Computer-based online exam planned for August 2026. Marks from this stage are used for shortlisting.
- Stage II Shortlisting: Separate shortlisting for 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches, based on age criteria and INET marks.
- Physical Fitness Test: You must clear the running, squats, push-ups, and sit-ups standards.
- Stage II Written Exam: Conducted only for candidates who clear PFT.
- Recruitment Medical Examination: Medical fitness is checked by authorised military doctors.
- Merit List and Pre-Enrolment Medicals: Final merit is prepared state-wise and selected candidates complete pre-enrolment medicals at INS Chilka.

- Click on Register and register as AVR (Apprentice).
- After successful registration, click on Login as Apprentice INET 2/26.
- Fill in your personal, academic, address, and exam centre details carefully.
- Upload scanned original documents, photo, and required certificates.
- Pay the Rs. 550 plus GST Stage I examination fee online.
- Submit the form before 29 June 2026 at 17:00 hrs and keep a printout for future use.

Responsibilities
- Serve as an Agniveer Apprentice under the Indian Navy for the approved four-year tenure
- Follow naval discipline, safety rules, and daily duty instructions during training and service
- Handle technical learning tasks linked to Engineering or Electrical trade work
- Work in ship, shore, and training environments as assigned by the Navy
- Maintain physical fitness standards required for naval duties
- Assist senior sailors and instructors during technical, operational, and maintenance tasks
- Prepare documents and forms required for training, verification, and enrolment stages
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Matriculation with minimum 50% marks plus a three-year AICTE recognised diploma with minimum 50% marks in listed Engineering or Electrical trades.
Preferred Qualification
Proficiency in sports, swimming, and extra-curricular activities is desirable. Sponsor candidates and NCC C certificate holders may be exempted from Stage I INET if verified.
Required Skills
Engineering or Electrical diploma trade knowledge, physical fitness, online application readiness, and ability to serve under Navy discipline.

Pay Scale
Agniveer monthly package: Rs. 30,000 in year 1, Rs. 33,000 in year 2, Rs. 36,500 in year 3, and Rs. 40,000 in year 4.

Exam Pattern
Stage I INET will be a computer-based exam with 100 questions for 100 marks. You will get one hour to complete the paper.
Subject-wise Breakdown
- English and General Awareness: Objective questions

- Diploma Trade Specific: Engineering or Electrical stream questions
Exam Language: Hindi and English.
Exam Type: Objective multiple-choice computer-based test.
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
Stage II written exam also has 100 questions for 100 marks and is held after you qualify the Physical Fitness Test.
