About This Job
The Indian Navy is hiring 60 Permanent Commission Officers through the 10+2 (B.Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme for the course starting January 2027. If you have passed 12th with 70% in PCM and 50% in English, and have appeared for JEE Main 2026, you can apply online. The last date to apply is 18 June 2026. Selected candidates will undergo a 4-year B.Tech course at the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, fully funded by the Navy.
Indian Navy 10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry Scheme 2026 - 60 Posts
The Indian Navy has released a fresh notification for 60 Cadet posts under the 10+2 (B.Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme (Permanent Commission). The vacancies are split equally between Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering branches. Maximum 8 vacancies are reserved for women candidates (4 each in Mechanical and Electronics). After completing the 4-year B.Tech course, you will be commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant in the Indian Navy and posted to the Executive or Technical branch.
Vacancy Breakdown
- Mechanical Engineering: 30 posts (including 4 for women)
- Electronics & Communication Engineering: 30 posts (including 4 for women)
- Total: 60 posts (with maximum 8 vacancies for women)
Branch allocation (Executive / Engineering / Electrical) will be done at the Indian Naval Academy as per Navy requirements.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have passed Class 12 (10+2 pattern) from a recognised Board with at least 70% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at least 50% marks in English (in either Class 10 or Class 12).
- JEE Main 2026: You must have appeared for JEE (Main) 2026 for B.E./B.Tech. Shortlisting for SSB will be based on JEE Main 2026 All India Common Rank List (CRL).
- Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates can apply. If you marry during training, you will be discharged and asked to refund the full training cost.
- Nationality: Indian (as per Govt of India rules).
Age Limit
- You must be born between 02 July 2007 and 01 January 2010 (both dates inclusive).
- This means your age should be between 16.5 and 19 years at the time of joining the course.
- There is no age relaxation for any category — the date of birth window is strict.
Salary
- During Training (4 years at INA): Stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month as Cadet.
- After Commissioning as Sub-Lieutenant: Pay Level 10 of 7th CPC starting at Rs. 56,100 per month.
- You will also get Military Service Pay (MSP) of Rs. 15,500 per month plus DA, HRA, Field Area Allowance, Outfit Allowance and other allowances as per Navy rules.
- Entire cost of training, books, clothing and messing is borne by the Indian Navy.
- Group insurance, free medical care, leave travel concession and pension benefits are included.
Medical Standards
- All candidates recommended by SSB must undergo medical examination as per Indian Navy standards for 10+2 (B.Tech) entry.
- Detailed medical standards are available on joinindiannavy.gov.in.
- There is no relaxation in medical standards on any grounds.
- Change of medical hospital or centre is not permitted under any circumstances.
Application Fee
- No application fee is required for any category — the entire process is free.
Selection Process
Selection is done in 4 stages — there is no written exam conducted by the Navy:
- Shortlisting based on JEE Main 2026 CRL: Naval Headquarters will fix a cut-off based on your All India Common Rank List in JEE Main 2026.
- SSB Interview: 5-day Services Selection Board interview at Bengaluru / Bhopal / Kolkata / Visakhapatnam. SSB interviews start from September 2026.
- Medical Examination: Detailed medical test for candidates recommended by SSB.
- Final Merit List: Prepared based on SSB marks. Appointment is subject to police and character verification.
AC 3-tier rail fare is admissible for first-time SSB candidates.

Responsibilities
- Undergo a four-year B.Tech course in Mechanical Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala
- Complete the prescribed academic, naval, and military training under the JNU-affiliated B.Tech programme
- Serve as a Permanent Commission Officer in the Executive or Technical branch of the Indian Navy after passing out
- Operate, maintain and command warships, submarines and naval aircraft systems as a commissioned officer
- Lead naval personnel during operations, exercises and humanitarian assistance missions at sea and ashore
- Maintain the highest standards of discipline, fitness and integrity as per the Navy code of conduct
- Participate in continuous professional courses for career progression up to senior officer ranks
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Passed Class 12 (10+2) with at least 70% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at least 50% in English (Class 10 or 12). Must have appeared for JEE Main 2026.

Exam Pattern
There is no written exam conducted by the Indian Navy. Selection is based on:
- JEE Main 2026 CRL Shortlisting: Naval Headquarters fixes the cut-off based on your All India Common Rank List in JEE Main 2026.
- SSB Interview (5 days): Conducted at Bengaluru, Bhopal, Kolkata or Visakhapatnam. The SSB includes screening tests, psychological tests, group tasks, individual obstacles and personal interview. Total duration: 5 days.
- Medical Examination: Detailed medical test for SSB-recommended candidates as per Indian Navy 10+2 (B.Tech) entry standards.
- Final Merit: Based on SSB marks alone (JEE rank is only for shortlisting, not for final merit).
